The game is selling again and I’ve redeemed @cigarette’s refer-a-friend code, although I think rewards won’t appear until I buy actual game time. Aether is completely locked out due to congestion, so I made a throwaway alt on Goblin long enough to check out Gridania (since I’ll start in a different city on my main character). I knew ARR took a lot of inspiration from WoW, but I wasn’t prepared for for this degree of similarity; these games could be cousins. Moving through menus or through the game world is just a hair more deliberate, and the UI aesthetic is pure PlayOnline; the only hiccup I encountered was that my control scheme flipped from keyboard and mouse to controller when I turned in my first quest, and my inverted mouse Y-axis reverted at the same time.
Really looking forward to the decongestion of Faerie (or at least another Aether server) so that I can dig in properly!
