my computer being broken for the first two days of early release has taught me patience and unlike endwalker im actually savoring the story a little bit, its nice but i already want to drop everything and just level some crafters

Halfway through and I think it’s the most consistent expansion so far.
It hasn’t quite reached the heights of the best parts of Shadowbringers, but the lower stakes and focus on world building and characters makes it feel way less like I’m just spinning my wheels.
However Wuk Lamot was designed in the lab to be the perfect npc for me specifically, so I have some bias.

How’re login times this go around? I’m thinking to resub but I’ve got a few other games on my plate so I’m not in a super rush to get back in (and I never finished endwalker anyways so I’ll be way behind everyone in MSQ). So I’m just trying to time the resub to when I’ll actually be able to get into the game.

the queues are fine if you log on before 2pm PST or after 9pm pst, if not you’ll be waiting through 2500-4500 people, but its been stable, the queues don’t kick people out
no one’s allowed to come to aether but we can go to less populated serves to get better queues, be careful tho cuz you won’t be able to come back when it’s busy

I like this expansion a ton more than endwalker. the stakes are so perfect

I think my longest queues (in the 2500-4500 range) have all taken about 2 hours to finish. That’s all after 5pm ET.
I’ve really soured on endwalker in general
there were so many cut corners in that expac so even if the base story was great (and parts of it really were) as a whole, when think about it, I don’t like it as much
I think the dye channels and graphics update and my clone wuk Lamat are doing a lot of heavy lifting, I have cried three times at the story so far tho

Plenty of people are whining in the usual spots about how a more grounded narrative with a more limited scope feels like a downgrade after ShB/EW. Wuk Lamat herself is also a bit of a load-bearing NPC for at least the first half of the expansion. (I’m only in the fourth zone, so I can’t guarantee how much this continues to be the case.) People who dislike her are wrong are going to have less to look forward to during large stretches of the storyline; like a character introduced in the Newfound Adventure patches, Wuk Lamat’s development and arc are foundational to the story, and certain kinds of player seemingly only want to follow characters at the heights of their power.
While I still love EW even more than Shadowbringers, Dawntrail is exceeding my expectations, and my expectations were high. I cannot wait to see if they stick the landing.

This is especially funny because the whole entire end of EW was about how this was how the future was gonna be and how good that was. “Fans” learn to understand the thing you allegedly love challenge
