was the same bunch of code used in dork souls, because i swear my characters could be made to look pretty decent there
yes but the base meshes in Dark Souls and most other games to use this system were better

oblivion game was probably the last game i was really, naively hyped for. i almost want to break it out again, eeugh
that’s pretty much my experience actually
i had only played morrowind very very briefly so i didn’t really have any expectations on that side, just a ton of hype from a bunch of game publications, friends etc.
i still have the coin that i got for preordering. i carry it with me to DND and on plane trips - it’s my good luck charm
i actually really really enjoyed oblivion at the time. it’s a mess of a game but it was wonderful to just walk around and pick flowers.

i played the xbox morrowind at 13 with the thousand page guide for it, it was an obsession. there ended up being some tradeoffs with the next-gen!! sequel, in retrospect

My favorite Oblivion mod was one that simply provided a better model and texture for singular coins.
Which you hardly ever saw in regular play. Like, maybe never? Unless you specifically dropped a single coin yourself.

the first of my friends to get an xbox 360 was obsessed with oblivion, he’d tell anyone who listened about how he dropped an apple at the top of a hill, and it rolled down the hill, fell into some water, then floated on the water.
then when we went to his house, he showed us this technological marvel actually happening!
