Man I really, really love The Fragile and would normally be down for any sort of weird outtake/deconstruction of it, but $80 for a bunch of records I can’t play feels like a bridge or three too far.
Yeah, I’m working hard to justify this. Vinyl is way too steep these days.
I did spring for the “physical object” though.
I did as well, mainly because I didn’t see a non-physical option but still.
In some alternate timeline where I still live in a large apartment and own a record player, I probably just bought the Pretty Hate Machine and Broken LPs.
It’s mostly just a curio and it’s bizarre you can’t buy it digitally on its own, same with the The Fragile Definitive Edition. I know Reznor pretty much expects people to download it otherwise but still.
Anyway, Not The Actual Events is probably the best thing under the NIN name since Year Zero (or Ghosts, but I keep forgotting to slot is along with the rest of the catalogue, it stands apart pretty significantly). I’ll be curious to see how much whatever’s due next year intends to follow or deviate from it.
