AssCreed Black Flag is supposedly getting a remake with the Skull and Bones studio “heavily involved”. You can’t make this up!
Skull and Bones started out as an expansion for Black Flag. And since they apparently never could get the game to come together it kept getting delayed and was supposed to come out this year but got delayed indefinitely. So now I guess Ubisoft HQ is just telling them to remake Black Flag. Hilarious.
the only thing i remember from the story is when all these pirates show up trying to out man each other, and the dialogue just sounded to me like “i have a big dick!” “i have a bigger dick!” “i have TWO dicks!”
Daedalic’s other, now-canceled Lord of the Rings game was never formally announced or officially titled, but was billed as an experience that would “transport the player into a lush world full of mythical creatures and magic.” Like Gollum, the game promised to tell “a story from a character’s perspective that has never been told before.”
idk why but this makes me sad. give them another chance. we live in a world where david cage keeps getting money to make games, it only seems fair to let these guys do it too.
yeah this is also how i felt. i wonder how much of this is just that games on this level are too expensive and even one failure spells doom (seems untenable lol) vs. how much of it is the echo chamber of social media making this game seem like an even-bigger piece of crap than it actually was which the shareholders all hear about and then they get trigger happy
I think they’re also bound to release Skull & Bones no matter what, because it’s apparently tied up in a number of tax breaks with the Singaporean government.
I wonder if they’ll keep the same mission structure or modernize it. Everyone loves sailing a pirate ship and shooting cannons and doing little rope swings onto sinking ships, nobody ever remembers that the bulk of the game’s missions were “tail these two guys, and if you fall out of range or get spotted, instantly fail and restart the mission.”
There are two tailing missions with your pirate ship! A big ass boat! Stealth boat sections! Ugh.
Does your boat have to hide behind a corner while the boat it’s tailing swings around to check nothing is following it before concluding ‘must be my boat imagination’?
I hate their rpgs even more than their adventure games! Blackguards is perhaps the worst attempt to cash in on the tactical turn based rpg revival that happened almost a decade ago
