I’m glad this game is returning to the side view look of Creeper World 2 instead of continuing with the 3D of 4.

Yeah, that’s it in a nutshell.

Which is all mildly amusing to me 'cause pretty much every mechanic mentioned so far is an iteration of or straight-up carry-through of mechanics of previous AC games, down to the stun system being in most respects a blend of the old overheat mechanic and PA (both of which served to increase damage if you stayed under fire too long, but in somewhat different methods).

Shit, the view padlocking existed in 4A. It was useless against other NEXT’s (especially human ones) because of how much they were in and out of your field of view and limited by leg turn rate (a stat which returns in 6 and will probably have a pretty major influence on the usefulness of the feature).

The ramming/kick attacks are straight outta compton/ACV, but with the view padlock, potentially useful for more than just one-shotting AI enemies while 20 more pile shots into you (well, maybe).

Apparently melee weapons have an overheat mechanic attached to them, so you won’t be chaining attacks forever… I’d wager a response to the popularity of doing just that in 4A (in patch 1.2, which lead to players building up what amounts to an after image of themselves do to the way it’d increase desync between players because of how it could be used to keep increasing one’s max speed basically infinitely).

…look, I guess what I’m saying is the game is way less whatever mecha-souls game some folks are still clinging to the idea of it being (even after FROM saying, repeatedly, that it’s not), and more like what I’d expect an Armored Core game directed by the person who was lead game designer on Sekiro would look like.

Q2 without the wacky community player models loses a lot of the charm.

Give me Shamblers over Strogg any day but if they can tame those deforming jello animations on the v_weap models they’ll win me over. It’ll at least be nice to ride around on the factory deathmatch level’s conveyor belt on some populated servers.

You like those??? They look so bad compared to Q1’s.

The game should have leaned into it and made the weapons biological like some of Half-Life’s.

What were the differences between N64 and PS1 Q2? I liked the PS1 version. It had remixed level design and some colored lighting that wasn’t in the original.

At the risk of being kind of spammy… This starts in 10 min!
