Companies exist to make money, not preserve games. You’ll pretty much need to stick to original copies or copies of the original copies for that.
UPDATE: thinking how good my “extractovania” will be that mixes outfoxies, metal warriors, king arthur’s world, and sure why not lemmings… worms… descend into mines or something, summon helpers or bots to build/block/harvest as you explore more and more rooms, get co op help on bosses to unlock more sections then UH OH some powerful devil got summoned or worms sudden death starts and you got to flee like after you get an orb of zot or amulet of yendor. (Realizing now that this is probably a redundant reinvention of exactly what an “extraction shooter” is aka something that sounds awesome that I would love to play twice or maybe way more over LAN but I would hate the “meta” and the need to make it please millions via cosmetic ranked prestige reset seasons or w/e)

To be completely honest I have no emotional attachment to IGI beyond the IGI name, a name from before the era when Warfighter told us everything was fair game, but I feel for the people who were excited.

I understand youtube comment sections are now where people go to try to out cornball one another about anything on earth but I had no idea I.G.I. was such an emotional cornerstone to the lives of so many people, going by the replies to that video.

I think we talked about this when it was announced, but being a shooter with huge outdoor spaces and building infiltration could be a real identity in 2000. But that’s not so novel any more and there’s not much in there to build an identity off of.
I figure every I.G.I. fan is a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. head now

Project I.G.I. fans are now playing shit like Ghost Recon Breakpoint now. I don’t think stalker has enough stealth mechanics to conceivably tie it to the concept of “building infiltration.”

When I played breakpoint without the hud it was probably as close as someone’s gotten to IGI or like Hidden & Dangerous in years, but also then they added a raid that takes literally 4 hours to complete so I’m assuming it was all on accident.

I’ve never even heard of igi until today but if you look up longplays of the worst ps2 licensed shovelware you can imagine you’ll still see the comments full of sentiments like “omg the nostalgia, I played this game to death as a kid

I remember Project I.G.I being pretty good!? The first level at least. It was one of those games where I got the demo on some disc and played it a whole bunch and then never ever played the full game. It was like the Thief TDP demo, and had a lot of replayability.
