it appears that console cannon dancer doesn’t actually let you play it as it’s supposed to be played. just two different flavours of versions with easy mode stuff hacked in
What why?
I’m guessing it’s using the same wrapper they used for Gleylancer and the Cotton games, where standard is just the game with save states and extra easy mode options, and ‘Challenge’ just means those are all disabled (or in this case, restricted to a couple cheat options because the game is too hard?)
No leaderboards kinda made sense in those games i guess since they’re console games, but feels like madness here
Maybe at the absolute least they’ll release a game without missing enemy sprites this time??
this isn’t ideal, but i feel like the implication here is you can use these things, which implies you also may not use them, if you don’t want to?
i’ve come close to 1CC’ing this game before and would say that these additions aren’t totally necessary, but if they want people other than me and this message board to buy it, then it makes sense to add some buffs
i don’t think this port is going to pan out in the long run, but i’m still glad it exists at all
good game
dreams’ live service is being reduced to life support. the servers will still be up for now, but once those go down it will be one of those library of alexandria moments - don’t think any of the reams of content in the game can really be preserved outside of it? but idk, maybe there’s some way to save this stuff before it all dies so it can at least be played in an emulator in x years or whatnot
As we continue to evaluate and evolve our priorities for the studio and Dreams, we’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue live support for Dreams after 1st September, 2023 to shift our focus to an exciting new project. You’ll continue to be able to play, create and share Dreams with others after September, but we won’t be releasing any more updates to the game or events such as DreamsCom, All Hallows’ Dreams or the Impy Awards.
i feel for media molecule they worked on that for like a million years but the pitch that all your creations would be locked into a proprietary system
commercial viability be damned that’s the ps4 game that should be ported to pc on epic’s dime
it’s probably better that the content is imperfectly archived in youtube
i’ll always have this to remember it by
They should have packed in Dreams with the PS5!
That would mean releasing something on the PS5 that would make it worth owning, and that doesn’t seem to be their strategy.
One of the best things about Dreams is that no one can make any money from their creations. I think this causes creators to approach things differently. I haven’t checked in lately to see what people have been creating. I may have to do that tonight.
I’ve been saying!!!
A hot tip for anyone looking to mess around with Dreams games – The Pig Detective games are where it’s at. A poor man’s Wallace and Gromit rendered as the world’s jankiest adventure game, with full voice acting. It’s pure fun. Just start with the third one, where he’s at a resort. There’s some legitimately good jokes in there. I particularly liked everyone treating your detective like he’s a 6 year old.
Every so often I see something on Steam and I honestly can’t tell if it is a sex game/thing or not. Today was one of those days.
