seems wild to just leave easy guaranteed money on the table like this

we gotta get more Tony Hawk-offs out there. didn’t they used to make a billion of them?

Aggressive Inline remaster that uses up your entire console’s SSD just like the original.

Was really hoping this would just be dlc for the first remasters. Oh well, score another L for blizzard

Tony Hawk 5 DLC would be an incredible joke.

Opportunity costs rule everything around me

Consider what happened to Valve’s game output when they internalized they could redirect those employees to (for instance) Counterstrike Go gun skins for like 50x more money per time spent

I got very depressed when I read Chris Remo was doing UI stuff for Dota Underlords Mobile or whatever.

When you need to go to sleep early to get up for long work shifts all week but still feel the need to scroll through Steam new releases, then feel the need to go log onto a web forum just because the backgrounds in a random game are so busy that you have to share.

I am one of those people who complains about teaser trailers that show no gameplay because “well what do you do in this game?”

And here I am, watching a teaser trailer that is all gameplay and, uh, “Well what do you do in this game?”

(I think I’ve got a bit of an idea but jeez, maybe give me a few informational overlays that describe the mechanics or something?"

Sort of sounds like a NiGHTS boss laugh. But I want it to be a next-gen surreal new-age survival horror Ecco the Dolphin game.

ah, this is really good, pitch-black underwater cave exploration would be terrifying

I briefly prototyped a VR new-age dolphin game that was pitched as a fusion of Rez and Ecco:

I don’t think I can trust my instincts here, but I sure am tired of this pop-edgy quippy aesthetic. I feel like I’ve been seeing it for about eight years, it’s never really been pulled off, and it feels more and more out of touch as it’s trying to hit what makes cheap internet culture feel real but in an expensive and overproduced way.

Really doesn’t help that their specific iteration of it is indistinguishable from last year’s wave of crypto scamming

It barely works for me in The Good Saints Row(s) from a decade ago because those are taking the piss out of GTA’s stew of contemptuous social “satire” and crime movie pastiche

Apex Legends occasionally remembers that the entire cast are necessarily sociopaths but the writing is so divorced from the game it’s a joke

I’m not a big fan of the older Saints Row but it felt more direct and scrappy than their new style; it felt human when they directly abandoned common production sense and the borders of what a game was supposed to do.

Similarly, I can’t trust my dislike of the new style and its directness and mugging and lack of irony; it’s hard for me to determine whether it’s old people attempting to mimic youth culture or truly represents something more in touch.
