Half-Life on steam now supports wide-screen resolutions, controller support, has official support for Uplink, includes brand new multiplayer maps as well as some only released on discs sold at specific retail stores around its release, and has the beta Barney and Gordon as swappable models.

I told my friend about the menu and he started the game up, closed it like 15 seconds later and messaged me “Ahh…it is as it should be.”
I love that literally all half-life fans are excited to have our original 1998 menu back after two decades of punishment

I tried getting the original version working just for the menu once, run it at native res with shaders etc, except the menu couldn’t upscale but the game could, was a nightmare.

omg i never thought i’d see that menu again. proustian recall of spindles of burned cds and the musical stylings of system of a down played way too loud on a friend’s car stereo as a long dormant neural network flares up and incrementally denatures via activation, now contaminated with the present context
