I bought that RPG Maker VX Ace because I occasionally get it in my head that I want to make an RPG and think it would be good to have that on hand if I decide to go down That Path.
But then I also think maybe the most attractive thing to me about making an RPG is making a unique battle system from scratch so maybe Iāll never touch it. I also probably shouldnāt do that.

did i spend a bunch of hours trying to make sense of already existing code iād need to modify to make rpg maker do what i want? yes. mvās javascript is built like a nightmare. maybe thats just true of all javascript? blissfully have never had to use it before.

javascript does not have much in it that encourages you to write it well. the core of the language was written by one guy in 2 weeks about 30 years ago and a lot has been haphazardly grafted on since then
iāve seen a handful of well-written javascript codebases but theyāve been exceptions
