As someone who has never played Alan Wake, played maybe a couple of hours of Quantum Break, and all of the base game of Control but not the DLC, I feel I am qualified to give my assessment on the plausible quality of Alan Wake 2!
Quantum Break and Control felt similar to me in how much they gestured at higher aspirations but werenât able to translate any of their high concepts into the gameplay or encounter designer. For both games, for all of the super powered hi-jinks theyâre themed around, I recall spending most of my time just alternating between the same two different columns or equivalent cover spots while I shot guys with the most basic gun. And the enemy AI rarely pushed me out of comfort, making the environments feel more like setdressing than level design.
Iâm probably also one of the only weirdos who found the feel of the guns in Control bad (canât recall Quantum Break but I donât recall liking it either).
Now, if someone were to make a kung-fu mod for any of these newer Remedy gamesâŚ
