yeah, sorry, to be precise I think it looks like it’s going to have a very hard time struggling to be more than a loose demo reel rather than the exhaustively fleshed out worlds this series is known for. it looks like Shenmue 3.

Though for that matter I think phoned in Yakuza games are honestly pretty good— I was super disappointed in infinite wealth and Sonic racing crossworlds because those seemed like they wanted to be big standard bearers and they were way worse than their predecessors. I honestly liked Gaiden and Pirates just fine because they seemed cheap and dumb. that’s why I’m still looking forward to K3; “this looks unnecessary” is kind of their sweet spot rn

I’m super curious because of my yakuza theories (that the games suck cuz he left) and i hope the Japanese prime Minister is trump-like in the way where she pays too much attention to media and sees this game coming out and gets really mad since they’re just using real places now

The steam page has some screenshots with big gun & car UI so there’s two points of differentiation at least.
also, id like this 2 be overly presumptious but with the level of representation they generally operate on its difficult for me to imagine nagoshi getting a korean protagonist through if he was still on yakuza/ with sega.

I haven’t cared about yakuza in a while but gang of dragon is a stupid title (laudatory) and I like that theyre putting it up front that you get a minigun and flamethrower for some reason.

I think it probably would make her incredibly mad because it has a Korean protagonist but I’m guessing she just won’t pay any attention to games and gamers… The true underdogs of society
