Man I was just fantasizing about a Halloween Pac-Man–okay just being able to hack my Pac-Man ROM to have an orange maze color instead of the regular blue–and then they come out with this.
The Google blog article about it (link below) says it’s only gonna be playable today (30th) and tomorrow. ; P Hopefully they’ll make it permanent at some point but eh I guess they’re thinking they’ll just roll it or something like it out around Halloweens, dang it.
EDit oh well okay the blog says “You can play the PAC-MAN Doodle game from the Google homepage today and tomorrow” but maybe that means it’ll still be playable from its own home page after that, just not on the Google home page?
(Update 11/1: The game is indeed still accessible and playable from its searchplayground page.)
It does say “This year’s game features eight levels, including four unique haunted-house mazes designed in partnership with Bandai Namco Entertainment, the parent company of PAC-MAN.” Who made the other four levels–Google?
The Pac sprite here wears a random (?) hat; at least one of them has a (sorta fuzzy) profile that looks distinctly like Ms. Pac-Man’s bow.

I was ALSO coming here to post about Stray Children. I’m looking forward to playing it when I’m not so busy with other stuff. I loved Chulip and Moon Remix RPG.
I’ll be interested to hear what other SB peeps think of it in the meantime.

I heard from a friend who played in JP that the game is good, but the ““pacifist route”” is really tediously obscure and you basically need a walkthrough to have a chance. So, word of warning perhaps.

uncharitably, it really looks like an undertale clone. I know that’s not a fair assessment given the heritage, but it does look a little too on the nose. still interested.

The new Octopath game is coming out soon
But coming out so soon after DQ 1/2 Remake makes it look so ugly in comparison. Why did they limit their sprite sizes and frame counts to SNES level? Even the 3D textures are SNES background detail level?? Wouldn’t have killed them to make them all slightly higher res!!
I bet it was cheap to develop though

The game is being developed by Ge-saku, a team led by Chika Nagai, a veteran creator credited on Kamaitachi no Yoru x3, 428: Shibuya Scramble, and My Merry May. Ge-saku is composed of seasoned developers who have been active since Japan’s classic adventure (visual novel) game era, lending authenticity to H9’s retro aesthetic.
I wonder if any of these people worked on kamaitachi no yoru 2’s creepy hidden stuff
