I guess I’m glad I’ve been too distracted with games like Baby Steps to get very far in Hades II, yet, as there are big updates to the downstairs true ending, apparently.

Last week I saw not one but two different reviews that focused almost entirely on how bad that ending was, so this news simultaneously surprises and unsurprises me.

:batsignal:

seems like there’s a new Katamari out there. Keita T supposedly doesn’t have much to do with it, and hence there are DLCs for 20 bucks, which supposedly buys you old songs and costumes.

All in all not too rosy, but i also loved the X360 Katamari, so i gotta give it a shot and see if i roll with it ( )

I’ll be curious how it is! The time travel gimmick seems like a fun theme for Katamari.

The new Katamari game is good. Largely more of the same from what I’ve seen so far but with themed overworlds and powerups (such as a short-lived magnet that pulls in anything close by that you could roll up). It seems to be a huge game with lots of goals if you like to have an excuse to revisit levels.

Some of the new music is good, along the lines of what you hear in the other games (but I’m sure they’ll never again reach the level of the first game).

The biggest challenge for me initially has been visibility, with crowded, confined spaces to get stuck in as walls and dialog boxes get in the way. But once I’ve seen an area once or twice it’s not too bad.

One important mechanic that wasn’t immediately obvious to me is that you can climb ladders. I don’t remember whether that was in any of the previous games.

The one thing none of these fan remakes concern themselves with is getting the pad controls down, and I’m not seeing the gun models do that satisfying thing where they track the cursor and give you that extra indication when the aim assist makes them perk up.

The Game Boy game better be somewhere in there as well. It’s a good time!

I’ve been keeping my eye on this one and feel like I’m just setting myself up for disappointment but it’s probably my most anticipated B-game. Something about the teams with How to Draw Manga character designs and the devs trying to build a world and story for something that doesn’t need it.

Red flags include: the unconvincing explanation for why having a dual stick control scheme is better than having a brake-based drifting mechanic; the overdesigned combat resource; the drab environments. I will end up loving this or falling victim to the Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M. of arcade racers.

wondering how close it matches Inertial Drift’s controls, which use a combination of brake, gas, left and right stick to steer.
