also the victory of denuvo is going to further diminish interest in AAA ports, the wine staging guys are trying to support it but I tried to talk them out of it because they’re underestimating the impossibility of maintaining compatibility with that kind of DRM

I’ll believe any of these when I see them, a Skyrim remaster sounds just like the kind of move those asses would pull though.

anyway i’m on pc; as soon as i get a ps4 i’ll probably buy the game there as well
I was a little disheartened, though unsurprised, to find that they decided to base their remaster off of that version. I checked out of IZJS when I found you couldn’t actually change jobs after the game asks you to pick them for characters very early in the story. The job boards themselves aren’t much interesting either, they really just serve to shoehorn each character into a one-note role without any versatility within that role. You could make your characters far more interesting and unique using the original board after you discover all the interesting relationships between stats and weapons.
It looks like they put ugly normal maps on the original textures, which already looked fantastic and are pretty much the pinnacle of hand-painted texture maps, a swan-song before all that noisy multi-map shit we have now. They probably think it looks cooler but man, I dunno, the original artists made those maps to look good without any fancy tricks and they did an incredible job. The maps were higher res than most TVs could display at the time!
so yeah just emulate it, runs great and looks great.
Only reason to pick this up might be improved audio, or just the accessibility of playing the game with modern conveniences.
I’m buying it only in the hopes that it sells well enough for Square to ask Matsuno to come back and make something cool (ha) with a Square Enix-grade budget behind it, I think that kickstarter he was working on with that mobile company didn’t pan out (which is kind of what I expected anyway). I miss Matsuno games.

publishing it to new consoles with mods and expansions baked in. Doubt it’ll be more than that.
Why isn’t the run button a Cactuar at fucking least. does this Z-team of talentless hacks not even have a glimmer of creativity or respect for the original source material
