Press release confirms base building, so it looks like a DoW1-styled game

I loved dropping construction pods on enemies as they rushed me, I hope that comes back

I’m really hoping it’s CO2 style, with base building and larger/bigger units, but the same basic gameplay as DOWII, but, unlike COH fans, DOW fans apparently hate that or something.

Push Me Pull You is outtttttttt

I will actually play this campaign.

CoD4 Remaster first tho

have you ever played soliel/ragnacenty/crusader of centy? shortly into the game, you trade the ability to understand humans for the ability to understand plants and animals, and later on, it has one of the best plot twists in an old videogame

Respawn’s second team is making a third person Star Wars action game.

This and Amy Hennig’s Uncharted-like are a new hope for Star Wars games har har har

Edit: looked up Stig and he formerly worked for Sony Santa Monica on God of War. That’s… not great. Maybe Vinny Z and co. can influence his work a bit.

I wouldn’t be too skeptical about the God of War guy. I don’t know Stig, but I know many people who have worked on God of War who really hated God of War, but did it knowing it would get them where they wanted to go. Like one friend put in time on GoW and now they’re a combat designer at Bungie, which is their dream job. Let Stig do his thing on this game before we judge him! There aren’t that many AAA studios to work for, Sony Santa Monica is a particularly pleasant and prestigious one to work at, and you can’t ignore career realities.

(Trust me, I’m plenty skeptical, but I think it is unreasonable to expect someone making AAA games to have only worked on AAA games that one likes, yeah?)

Makes sense. It just cuts my enthusiasm based on the studio. There’s a very clear through line of someone like Steve Fukuda from Allied Assault through Titanfall to inspire confidence.

My career was Harmonix -> my own studio -> The Witness (until 2012) and then I decided to leave the industry rather than work for Zynga or on the CoD campaign b-team or whatever. On the plus side, I have no shitty games on my record. On the down side, I’m out of the industry. A certain amount of it is luck.

It’s up for debate whether that down side is actually down.

franchise moments, such as loading times

Yeah RPS really needs to make Marketing Translator a regular feature.

I don’t think this was RPS. It was something I found on Reddit where apparently someone just took all the adjectives out of the Infinite Warfare press release.

It was on RPS, but they didn’t write it, it was in the comments section of the press release post. They just took out all the adjectives (and the result is wonderful).

That is hilarious, but I would like to highlight

“The entire campaign – from boots-on-ground combat to piloting high speed space-fighters – occurs as a near seamless experience with few visible loading times”

That could be awesome, especially if it doesn’t ever cut (it probably will, judging by the trailers).

this is really pretty actually

i definitely want to launch into space in first person and fly through dogfights in near earth orbit

of course that’s probably not going to a big part of the game or anything, but god damn

They’re doing Zombies instead of Aliens (like Ghosts had) for the third mode, which is surprising and bums me out a bit, but then again I never really cared for either. Just sorta lame how now all three studios are doing Zombies. I want Spec Ops back.
