Wiki says she was indeed added to the Vita port (that was my first EDF game)

Oh man , adding a character that can fly to a remake is such an awesome move.

And this little bit of information is probably going to lead to me buying a vita at some point. thanks for that.

4.1 will probably make the online community of 2025 drop by 50%?
(as in: 2 out of 4 people still playing this will upgrade)

still, such a great game it is. I never really got comfortable playing the Fencer, since I grew so accustomed to the Wingdiver.
(also: did they add some 6-ish missions? because i thought I’ve seen 100 stages mentioned somewhere, which would make it six more than 2025)

They added missions, yeah, particularly to introduce a new enemy type. They also remixed some of the missions to use a different map (particularly noticeable for the water bug mission) or rebalanced enemies or even re-ordered story beats for a better flow.

What’s more they reduced lighting in the underground missions so you can’t see further than like 20 feet in front of you unless you have a new type of Crawler from the Air Raider or you’re lighting things up with explosions and plasma. Makes for a much more atmospheric fight.

Couple new weapons/items, noticeably better framerate, load times and graphics. The second mission set DLC was free as well. I dithered a bit about upgrading from the PS3 version but I was glad I did.

Yes the underground missions in the new ones are great.
You see a mass of red dots on the minimap moving to your direction but cannot see anything in the field. You timidly fire your weapon in the void and it only hits the wall behind. Then suddendly an army of 200 ants appear and you backpedal like hell while shooting and screaming.

New Carmaggedon game got an official announcement:

A host of moving targets to hunt down for points, including pedestrians in wheelchairs & mobility scooters

I mean, I already expected Postal-level immaturity in a game about running over pedestrians, but this is still disappointing to see. Videogames!

instead of terrorizing poor people the game should be about running over tech nerds in san francisco in the mustang from bullitt, final boss a duel with some ceo prick in his rally fighter

Count me as a person who still finds the gleeful carnage of the original Carmageddon kind of hilarious (though its hilarity is paltry compared to the actual mechanical fun of finding the craziest way to carkill things for maximum points, which is legit compelling [if my last experience of playing the demo 15 years ago is to be trusted]), but as I’ve said elsewhere, increased photorealism drains all fun from the proceedings and renders it queasy trash.

The thing which most interests me in this handful of early screenshots is that some of the action seems to be taking place in broad daylight and I’m hopeful that could actually have meaningful impacts on gameplay

Oh, and I’m also very excited about this:

I feel like lately all the stuff I want to get localized is getting localized, but it’s a bit of a monkey’s paw thing because now my stupid backlog will get even larger

I mean, that’s somehow still appalling, even after all of the other shit, but I’m actually curious how Nintendo will react to this (they probably won’t) given how intent they typically are to stay above (or just remain unaware of) the fray

Nintendo knows about the fray, they’re just in a position to not care most of the time because nerds keep giving them money (it pretty much seems the only time they’ve seemed apologetic is the Tomodachi homosexual relationships thing, which was just as much their fault as it was the internet’s, but that’s neither here nor there)

disapprove of harassment tactics to the extreme

Nintendo localization stuff has been weird lately, tho

weird

I think that’s just because they’re trying (or are perceived as trying) to keep up with modern fandoms and there is basically no way that can turn out well

I noticed a significant shift in treehouse’s writing toward the self-indulgent between the cube and the Wii (eg paper Mario) which I think was widely echoed at the time but that’s like irrelevant ancient history relative to the way that fire emblem seems to be regarded nowadays, and I haven’t paid particularly close attention to them in years

can mostly understand fire emblem mess, given the somewhat unprecedented turn in style/development/size the last couple games took
never a friend of memes
but, honestly, more confused by NOA/NOE localization disparities
translating to FR, GE, IT, etc makes sense to mix things up as necessary
but it seems like somebody on at least one side of the atlantic likes to rewrite stuff just for the hell of it???

I mean, “faithful” translations are a fallacy – even if you’re striving for accuracy (you should really be following agness kaku on twitter btw), I’m pretty sure the interesting grey area is lost on grundle grommet – but you do have to be able to actually write well in either case!

edit: ok when you read that pluralizing ‘animu’ ends up making for some weird sentences
