Killzone was on j-ps+ and it ruled to play that pretty pretty game for free. It is also quite boring. Theres a hinge problems where i talk about it for twenty minutes.
Well that is last thing I expected to be remastered
Fun game, I just didnât know anyone else had played it
Nerd news: https://www.khronos.org/vulkan/
Vulkan is officially out in the wild. Nvidia and Intel have drivers out in the wild for Windows and Linux, AMD has a (non-compliant) driver out for Windows. Croteam has a beta patch for The Talos Principle that includes Vulkan support.
https://developer.nvidia.com/Vulkan - Nvidia has some Vulkan demos up if you feel like making your CPU suffer
I hate apis*
*plz donât be slur
As a Linux user, Vulkan makes me happy and itâs seriously long overdue (do I blame AMD for the delays again)
Itâs not really going to be much help for your average indie dev, though.
Sure it is, once Unity and UE get support. Do a lot of indies really write their own graphics engine?
Oh and once someone writes a Metal transpiler for it because Apple loves lock-in
Someone seems to be making a Vulkan wrapper for Metal: https://moltengl.com/metalvk/
Yeah, once Unity and UE4 (which last I checked, is still free or very low cost) get their support baked in, itâll be good for everyone. The API also covers Android and probably whatever Nintendo has cooking.
The main thing is, yeah, it matters for Unity and UE and games that use those, and particularly anything bleeding edge. But, for the time being, the only real boost will be performance. So everything that already runs pretty well? Yeah? No gain.
And drivers are only going to be targeted towards newer hardware, not older, so you canât target it for compatibility either, leaving you to continue supporting older stuff if you want to stay on that.
In the future itâll be nice when new hardware functionality is added, because the DX12/Vulkan/Metal direction is The Future, but thatâll be a long ways down the road.
AMD is doing drivers for every card based on GCN (so, 7xxx and up) and Nvidia is promising support for Fermi and up (GTX 4-series and up and their driver is only missing Fermi). Weâre talking at least 4-5 years worth of cards with DX12/Vulkan support, so we should be good.
Of course, the end goal is to kill the need for 3D drivers to begin with, so support moving forward should be most interesting.
Cloverfield: Gaiden
On Linux theyâre implementing on top of their amdgpu drivers, which are GCN 1.2 or later only.
They promised support for 1.1 âeventuallyâ which in my mental framework means âoh, probably never.â
I didnât think people still had expectations for AMD on Linux
your coverâs blown, theodosius!
Breaking News Street Fighter V is a pacifist game, where players arenât allowed to fight each other, that is until they fix the servers.
why are the character designs so terrible
why did people decide that they needed to keep making games in this series after third strike
there oughta be a law
Cuz
One day an actually cool new footsiefighter will happen
I gotta believe
