metroid is, at this point, beyond salvaging.
it was an incredibly influential series on gaming, with its design choices reverberating even to today’s games and designers.
but there is nothing particularly special about it as a franchise, and everything it did has been done by others designers at least as well, if not better.
also you can’t create super metroid in the era of the internet. the ‘mysteries’ will be traded around in seconds.
