I haven’t checked in a while, but I’m sure my worst win rate is vs. Cammy specifically because of this; I never know when it’s my turn. I’m sure this is why they put the drive reversal in this game, but I never remember to use it and just eat the counterhit.

i play marisa and cammys always make me practice my patience. i have more success when i stop trying to create situations, turtle up, and let them make mistakes but it’s hard to know when’s the right time to push

Alright, cool! Sounds like I’m playing Street Fighter then and not missing something obvious.
I have gotten quite a few Manon lvl 1 supers out on very aggressive players now that I’ve practiced it and that does seem to cool them off a bit.
I think also helpful as manon against some aggressive players r the invincibility frames on the qcf punch move, u can sneak that in sometimes and get the throw counter up unexpectedly
cammy is never plus after any string (except if she ends in hp spin knuckle or if you’re in burnout), she’s just at a range and a frame disadvantage where if you try to force your turn she’s likely going to counterhit you. if you don’t press most bad cammys are going to take some large risk to reset pressure and hope you’re frozen. better ones will realize they’re still cammy and either sit there or try to walk forward or backward a little bit to stay in ranges where she’s probably better than you

can’t figure out where to enable the role…
I just added you to the group! I don’t think users can opt-in to discord roles without using bots? And I don’t trust bots so I just add folks manually if they ask/respond to the occasional “react to this message to get the role!” message.
If anyone knows of some way for folks tj assign themselves roles or tags in discord please lemme know!!

i use a bot for it. i think theres a way to do it without bots if you make your server public but you have to allow an official discord bot to moderate your server (which means they scan every single picture uploaded to see if its nsfw) which is why i just use the bot. asking seems to be working fine though!

Thoughts about modern controls.
It seems like the consensus is that these aren’t really viable as an option except for those characters who lose only 3 normals or get an instant antiair option out of it.
At the highest level my guess is it’s still to early to say if we’ll see modern users until maybe a year from now.
As an experiment I’ve been trying modern and classic Chun-li since I like her stance archetype and she’s a good example of a character that is very hamstrung by modern. Her antiair is pretty easy to execute already and she loses far more normals than the average character due to her stance and command normals. You also still have to charge charge moves
Comparing her to, say, modern Cammy they’re like night and day in terms of viability. More importantly modern Chun just isn’t as fun as classic or a more viable modern character.
I’m continuing on with modern Jamie as I feel he maintains interesting tools in modern and some of the inputs (like supers) are just easier on my tendons.
I do wonder if Capcom will look to radically rebalance modern later down the line or if for now the strategy is to see it as a more fun gateway than literal automatic play like dynamic controls or old Arcsys auto options.

I think Japanese pros are evaluating Modern much more highly than international players so we might see some shocking choices as soon as Evo?

What I learned from watching CEO: when her opponent is in burnout, Manon can just mash medium punch because it’s +3 on block lol.
Went from iron to silver tonight! My punishes are still a bit uh unreliable but I’m learning. Still getting caught out by drive impact spammers. Even when I use cancelable moves sometimes I don’t have the reaction time. I reach for it but I don’t find the button in time. At least I learned that when they DI your jump in you can just counter DI right when you land.

Just watched the CEO Top 8 and this is a way better spectator experience than SF5 ever was. Blanka sweeping Grand Finals was so great.

yup! looking forward to red bull kumite this weekend too! though sadly MenaRD won’t be in attendance.
as a defender of SFV throughout its life, SF6 is a real come to jesus moment with my relationship with the former. Truly a game I forced myself to like - and not just in the spectator sense. SF6 so far is just plain more fun to play.
