I know that it’s a very obnoxiously me kind of thing to say, but you should skip watching Master and Commander and just read the Patrick O’Brian Aubrey-Maturin books. They’re good and have infinitely more character and infinitely less Russell Crowe than the one movie adaptation.

I think part of it for me is that BB is sorta like GB folded in on itself, which is why I would say that GB is probably catapulted to the top of any list I would make for other people, while BB might remain at the top of my own list.

To counter I saw The Boy and The Beast and had a fucking fantastic time and it was huge and got to see it Subbed for true authentic pleasure.
Sad I couldn’t catch Princess Mononoke on the big screen but did get Kiki’s Delivery Service which was also delightful.
I go see family films by myself and have a great time of it.
