MUWT 2: The Quickening

I’m not going to judge the man’s fetish (if it indeed is, as my suspicions lead me to believe; the article never outright states the videos are of that nature but the included photo leaves very little to the imagination), but the level of paranoia and persecution the article implies doesn’t paint a picture of a normal, well-adjusted individual.

While that sounds like a great movie in of itself, I still want a crazy clips4sale documentary

Wait, is this wide release? Its tickled my fancy since the trailer dropped.

I watched the first twenty or so minutes of Zero Theorem and I’m worried that if I watch any more it’ll make me reassess my love for early/mid-period Gilliam.

Does…it get better?

No I watched it and that is exactly what happened to me. Just turn it off and watch Baron Munchausen again instead.

Ok so I watched Carnage Park and I’m not even sure why I give 70’s exploitation throwbacks the time of day.

It was one of those movies where so little of substance happens that I was confused as to how it filled 90 minutes.

(the answer is ‘with filler, idiot’)

Oh also re: Zero Theorem, the big reveal shot of Future City (or whatever it’s called) looked like it was lifted wholesale from one of Darick Robertson’s magnificent splash pages early on in Transmetropolitan.

In THE LEGEND OF TARZAN there’s a flashback where a digitally deaged tarzan is def hanging dong while sniffing a scandalized Margot Robbie’s junk region?

Today I watched an Uwe Boll movie that’s on Netflix called Assault on Wall Street. It… wasn’t bad? The first half is a pretty good dramatic telling of the way the financial crisis obliterated the savings and families of working people who were doing their best to follow good advice, only to be left at the end with recourse and all their financial-class supports referring their problems so far up the chain that accountability became impossible.

Then it surprised me even more by almost avoiding catharsis at the end during the titular assault. But then at the very end they go a little too superheroy and, hey, it turns out Boll is still an exploitative hack. But still! You can put it on the list of post-crash blue collar revenge movies.

I was kind of disappointed it wasn’t more hacky and exploitative. I didn’t think I’d be waiting til the end to see some Wall Street motherfucks get it.

Sure, it could’ve gone full grindhouse from the start; but with that opening act, it’d be a tonal betrayal. Anyway, I’ve seen other Boll movies, and they’re all exactly as horrible as default internet nerd culture would have you believe, so I think a full exploitation attempt would’ve ended up just as bad as all the others.

Mostly I was just commenting how shocking it is that anything directed by Boll has any merit whatever. I guess after you make enough movies you can’t help but get a little better at it?

I think it’s common knowledge at this point that e doesn’t care to put any effort into his films, and the few he tries on are alright. Not good, but he can make something watchable if he wants to.

Love and Friendship is a horrible person is terrible to perfectly nice people and we’re suppose to enjoy it.
