Metallica also did a song for MI2

Also, no way 2 is better than 1. I watched the first 3, like 6 months ago. I knew 2 was bad, but was quite a bit worse than I had remembered. 3 I had always thought was decent. But no, its really super boring.

I bought the whole album soundtrack just for this song

ugh the farewell hit me square in the heart

I am relieved it is actually good too there are lots of really interesting touches and the whole movie seems to cut itself off in a way that makes awkwafina seem like she’s just floating between scenes which is probably how I would feel in her position

2 is the best of the original trilogy because tom cruise had the best hair in that one

3, is by far the worst one of the original trilogy

2 and 3 are both pretty darn bad

I recently learned that Abbas Kiarostami filmed a follow-up to Where Is My Friend’s House a few years later. There was a major earthquake in the area where he had filmed the first movie, and in the second he and his son return to see what had become of the actors.

I think both films are very good.

I also need to get around to watching Taste of Cherry.

Taste of Cherry is a pretty alright movie.

How can you dislike a movie that had such a good yelly PSH

Mission Impossible is the only film franchise where every installment is better than the last

2’s soundtrack, along with the matrix’s, was very formative for me

Ah listening to this I can still see the bars on the winamp spectrum visualizer bouncing around

The mi2 soundtrack was the first thing I ever pirated I think? Also had the first metallica song I ever heard, huh

Mission Impossible 2 recreates the “just stay alive, I will find you!” scene from Last of the Mohicans but instead of capping this by jumping through a waterfall Tom Cruise instead throws some sort of grenades at the outer wall of a skyscraper, shoots them with a pistol, and leaps out through the new building hole to basejump away

it’s some real giddy stupidity I have to cherish

2 is set in Sydney so I have to like it. I used to have picnics at the rocky place where he fights a guy with a motorbike. The main building is just a building you see all the time if u live in syd

i’m watching brigsby bear which is a movie where mark hamill plays a part of a husband and wife duo of people who make tv shows like Land of The Lost but solely for the child they abducted and forced to live in a bunker

it goes more places after that but stars a cameo by tim heidecker playing a father in a 90s kids sports movie

Hobbes and Shaw is just a comic book movie but in a cinematic universe not born from comic books by a studio who keeps trying (and failing) to make cinematic universes, but on the other hand, it features The Rock suplexing Idris Elba

The Farewell was fantastic enough that it reaffirmed the faith in humanity I had before The Lion King (2019) took it away

I’m almost glad that crazy rich asians came out before the farewell because it lets me be incredibly smug about how I saw more of myself in a single frame of the farewell than I did in the entirety of crazy rich asians

The original Dawn of the Dead is still fantastic. I can’t believe how hard it is to find it for sale/streaming these days.

Oh wait it’s probably a rights issue. On a Romero film.
Yeah I can believe it.

EDIT: eh, it’s on yourtub I guess. nm

honestly, outside of some of the more cultural-specific stuff, The Farewell was broad enough that even I could relate to a lot of it

worth it
