Music is my biggest interest, but some accounts prioritize your ratings and your artists over others. Some days I am in the mood for hip hop, some days I am in the mood for OSTâs, some days I am in the mood for punk, some days I am in the mood for metal, some days I am in the mood for synthpop, some days I am in the mood for EDM, some days I am in the mood for IDM, etc. It is hard to get good neighbours and recs if you have a little bit of every genre in one account, so I try to divide my taste in different accounts to get better recs as well as better neighbours.
I have not scrobbled anything in over a year. I have been doing most of playing in Spotify, and Spotify tags are not often the best, and it is more trouble than it is worth to go by the tags. If I get a last.fm running soon, I will have to scrobble the songs manually. I donât want to be stuck with tags like â(song name) remasterâ or â(album name) 2024 mix.â
If youâre going to have one artist that spans all three of your accounts, Deine Lakaien is a great choice.
One time at work we had a contract trainer come in to teach us how to use some prototyping/wireframe software and somehow I ended up talking to him about music on a break.
Itâs very rare for me to be able to mention any of my favorite music groups in real life (other than maybe Depeche Mode) and have anyone recognize any of them, but this trainer actually had some significant overlap in taste and when I name-dropped Deine Lakaien he stepped over to his laptop and played this song over the conference roomâs sound system.
