what did you think about jungle book
Jungle Book is the only one I havenāt seen somehow but after Lion King, my expectations are so low, theyād only be found when drilling for oil
for the record, I think Cinderella is the best one mostly because Kenneth Branagh is the best director they got on any of the musicals and it seems like he was having fun with it and Dumbo is my favorite because Tim Burton got Disney to front millions of dollars for him to shit on the idea of a giant entertainment company trying to buy any and all attractions to create an overstuffed content farm
i honestly canāt believe disney managed to do three separate live action jungle books. not even like sequels or spinoffs or anything they just did it three times
rewatched a better tomorrow ln with a gaggle of girls and that movie is still just so incredibleā¦ it has this edge of like, Social Issues i really admire and which is not so present in a lot of john wooās later stuffā¦ stuff like the ex-con taxi stand or the degredation chow yun-fatās character experiences hits hard for me idk. we all know i love an underdog
he and ti lung for real almost kiss like 3 times perfect movie
also some of the violence feels like gnarly horror movie shit like the apartment assassination sceneā¦ also the soundtrack goes so hard
chow yun-fat posed like a martyred saint in scene after scene
awhile back I started working on making that subtitle file you linked here work with the 4k uhd remux I recently got, I had to go through it all by hand, couldnāt just delay it. I need to get back to that so I can finally watch the movie with good subtitles for once.
This is why Ringo Lam and City on Fire are huge for me.
Transformers (Rise of Beasts) features a tsundere Optimus Prime, some random humans, an ape calling himself Optimus Primal, lotsa mechas beating themselves up and being phoenix downed seemingly randomly, plus Optimus Prime (the truck, not the ape) doing a Mortal Kombat finishing move ā and last, but not least, a trashy german dub.
cons:
no Bayhem, but still had a great time.
only thing is, they should stop making these just for me, makes me feel a bit guilty
apparently I am on a quest to see every Disney moviefilm for cinemas this summer
Elemental is a movie sold as a generic opposites attract romcom in the most literal way possible and thatās half of the premise
the other half is itās about being a first-generation child of immigrants
I liked it well enough and I definitely liked how it looked even if it was squarely in the Pixar wheelhouse and also itās a better handling of race than Zootopia, the family movie about drugging minorities to make them violent
also Ember has exceedingly nice hips like what the hell are they doing over there, sheās so goddamn thick all she can do is strut no donāt look at me like that, I saw on screen how horny those animators were and I respect them
this sounds like a difference in framerate maybeā¦? like 24 vs 25fps cause they could have been sourced off a pal dvd. idk if you have experience syncing subtitles at diff frame rates like that but i could help if u want. maybe thats not the problem at all tho
yeah it worked with the 1080 rip I had which was 24fps but the 2160 was 23.976. I made it a third of the way through by hand. I figured there must be an easier way but that it was probably gonna take math or something. I guess at least this way I get to easily modify the lines to my liking. there were one or two I thought could be better and looked at what other translations did and between them all came up with something that was
If this is a ālinear driftā issue with the subtitles then Iāve had success using the command line tool srtresync for that. It was a super easy way to fix drifting subtitles on Mismatched Couples when I was working on applying subs from one rip to a better rip.
thereās a tool in subtitle edit i can show u how to use that handles that i can post a tutorial for everyoneās benefit sometime soon
loving this camaraderieā¦
When people mention after earth (2013) how come nobody ever says itās a weird scientology auditing session between Will Smith and his son where he purges his thetans and uses study technology to become strong enough to ascend the volcano from the cover of dianetics?? and kill an alien monster (psychiatrist) that creates fear in us to sustain itself. Like yeah their spaceman accents and funny names are great and all but the way itās basically a thinly veiled scientology thing is incredibly bizarre. Tomās dark influenceā¦
Finally got to watch Polite Society. Itās wild as shit and only goes increasingly off the rails towards the end, but it was fun.
Also, in hindsight, the trailers give away too much. Just read the premise and check it out if it sound interesting!
After failing multiple times to watch Gorgeous staring Jackie Chan with Japanese subtitles I managed to watch Man on The Roof a Swedish crime movie, with Japanese subtitles.
It is dark and weird in the way Scandinavian movies are (are the Swedes this? Should I have said Northern European?)
A police chief is murdered in his hospital room. We meet the detectives assigned to find the murderer. One of them we meet with his dick hanging out and then inside his wife while their one year old child plays. It linkers on this scene āwhat am I supposed to think about this?ā i say outloud.
There are other scenes where I say this. Eventually one of the detectives is the protagonist I guess. Then a guy is on a roof shooting cops with an automatic weapon. A lot of cops die in the process of capturing him. The movie ends. āWhat exactly was I supposed to think about that?ā
I feel like it is going to happen more and more in my life I am going to get 40% into a movie and go āIāve seen this before.ā Where? When? Who knows.
swedes, danes and norwegians will even refer to themselves as scandinavian,
though it does look weird to me to typecast scandinavian films as dark. weird feels unavoidable but likeā¦ thereās so much comedy and childrenās movies made here.
but the dark stuff is usually the good stuff so maybe canāt fault that for being the outward image.
