btw does anyone know what the fuckin deal with “Drake Doremus” is?

Boy this sure looks like a modern thriller.

God can we stop color correcting everything to death? What if things were just the color things are? Orange and Teal go away.

what’s the point of rebuilding the Overlook if you’re just going to smush all the colors down to mush

I love that the first movie is just LIVE DIE REPEAT because the home version basically made that the title (the actual title is on that cover, but so much smaller than LIVE DIE REPEAT).

So good call on that title this time, people.

Genuinely hype for Iannucci’s David Copperfield.

“and I’ve never seen a Dickens adaptation that has celebrated the language, the dialogue, and the comedy. Really, everything is too reverential.”

Sounds like how a Dickens adaptation should be done

This takes me back to when I worked in a (dying) video store when this came out and we actually put the title as, including the punctuation, “live. die. repeat.: edge of tomorrow” and alphabetized it in the L’s

damn I just talked my wife out of using one of our festival passes this year on that maybe I should reconsider

Edge of 2Morrow: Live, Die, and Repeat went up a hill. Only Live and Die came back. Who is left?

Wow! That trailer showed way too much of that film.

oh no I want it despite that movie being very flawed

(its still mostly great though, just not the lost classic I hoped it would be)

my day is made

these past few months I’ve been watching scenes from Paris, Texas a few times a week, just to get something quiet and vast

last weekend I saw Long Day’s Journey Into Night which is excellent and could fit in mood right between Wim Wenders and Wong Kar-Wai. (it has a very important 3D segment so prioritize seeing it in a theatre now if you can)

did you watch Kaili Blues? I thought Kaili Blues was absolutely amazing

No, but it jumped much higher on my list after watching this movie. I can’t overstate how gorgeous Long Day’s Journey is, all crumbling buildings, falling water, and neon reflections

I’m kind of glad they’re so aesthetically different because I was worried from things I heard about Long Day’s Journey, that it would be just a bigger budget rehashing of kaili blues.
