Yeah, I was in the middle of some hour-long expedition (searching for Grimalkynes) and it expired by the time I was out.
totally possible, I skipped over 4/4G entirely
I have barely done anything other than story quests so far but I really want to get a 4th tier insect glaive because the damage boost is strangely huge, so far I’ve just made a 3rd tier charge blade and light bowgun instead
variety is nice though
is it me or is the palico gear like, even more 100% aesthetic in terms of its non effect on stats than you’d think
as i expected everyone in sbutt is vastly ahead of me so i can’t join any of your quests and you’d just steamroll mine with superior gear, so i’m gonna be playing most of this solo i guess
I’m only at four stars! And I owe everyone whose quests I can actually join at this point after how much the six star folks helped me out!
palico weapons with status effects can be real game-changers tho
@rye there are people low hr, and there are some people i know are getting in who haven’t started yet, and lots of us Big Boys are hopping into the occasional lower-level quest when we see them up, and, really, if you wanted to catch up the rank-ups are really pretty brisk

edit okay i guess you said this thing about superior gear steamroll, but once you hit like anjanath+ everyone’s on roughly the same page until you get up to like hr 9/10
Plus even if a higher rank person joins, they can equip weaker gear to avoid steamrolling.
(even though the high rank stuff looks really cool)
And Felix, sorry about the mic thing earlier! Turns out ps4 doesn’t like the inline one on the earbuds I was using. Back to using the uncomfortable playstation ones, then.
I am still figuring out chat and haven’t used mic yet because of sleeping family but hopefully I’ll be more friendly soon. I appreciate everyone who plays with me! It figures that the first time I hunted with anyone (ben and aido) I got performance anxiety and did terribly.
Also after 600+ hours learning to dodge and “panic dive” monster attacks, having a good shield feels like I’m cheating.
Being an insect glaive user and getting help from higher level players for any given hunt immediately makes me suspicious that I’m actually a child whose horsey ride is being facilitated by the people doing all the actual work

I hit things hard with hammer. Hammer swing around and around and then plonk and crash. Sometimes I jump on top and do stab, stab, stab with small knife, but then… then I take hammer and do big long plonk. I like hunting.

The fact that capturing a monster now actually makes it visible at your base, snoozing away is the best thing in the game, maybe.
I wish I could keep a paolumu. ilu paolumu.
(I just hunted a tzitzi ya-ku and when I ran over to stop it from beating up the little paolumus, it ran off. Behind it was a very angry paolumu and it yelled at me!!

that’s why i typically play most mh games solo for the “story” portion. my friends historically always go faster than me and it’s no fun having people come in to your low rank hunt and decimate a monster for you the first time you fight it.

For what it’s worth, I only “sorta” got MonHun (tri) for the first seventy hours, just using a great sword. Then I changed weapons and everything snapped into place. Weapons have pretty differing kinesthetics, and can be the deciding factor. If you want, you could try picking up an older entry and mess around with weapons? Tri really grated on me for not having a proper “school” like MHFU.

Seriously considered getting in on this to hammer more big lizards but I am most blessed by my bad butt with an inablity to afford it and hopefully by the time I can everyone will be done with it.

Been bouncing between switch axe, glaive, and bow all solo solo and been generally having an enormous amount of fun w/ switch axe’s ebb and flow style. My weapon is trans. It has a limit break. It’s great
I’m curious to try doing some SnS and see how fluidly one could incorporate bombs and traps and slinger hijinks into the thick of a hunt

Also my first. During the demo I was all about the charge blade/insect glaive/light bowgun but now that I’m actually playing I just want to dual hatchet everything. I realize the damage output isn’t great but the mobility and constant stream of damage sure feel good. If there aren’t a lot of low-down squishy parts I’ll dabble with the light bowgun still. Might give bows a shot later on, I’ve tried very few of the weapons so far. Maybe I’ll do the bagpipe first.

theoretically I would be interested in this because we apparently liked the exact same beta weapons but mostly I’m just reassured that there will be no competition for the position of sbutt’s acrobatic jackass
