in fairness, PC was a much more attractive option last generation – you could get a Wolfdale C2D, an 8800 GT derivative, memory, a overclocking-friendly mobo, and a case/PSU for like $400 by 2008-2009, plus piracy was vastly simpler at that time, and consoles had a lot more bs going on between points currencies and failure rates and hardware revisions and video cables and so on.
this gen, the only time that PC hardware has been a significantly more attractive value proposition than the going rate of the base PS4 was like, a few months in 2016, and there’s been very little to dislike in that base PS4
Hmm. I think of the 360 as a perfect console for playing locally and the PS4/XB1 as essentially the end of that era. Sure, split-screen ran and looked terrible but it was two players per one console and one copy of the game. Even MH3 could be played on one Wii, one TV, two controllers, one copy. That’s now two PS4s, two controllers, two copies, two PS+ subs, two TVs.
Split-screen on PC is unfortunately very rare - I don’t think any of the storefronts have really worked out a way to do it (Gears 4 had it and it was killer). But it was easier for me and my folks to have two or three PCs in a room than the equivalent in PS4s since some of us already had PS4-grade PCs (Sandy + GCN Radeons). 2013 also coincided with a lot of great PC-first multiplayer games like Samurai Gunn and Steam Family Sharing.
I know this is extremely tedious to TRUE DOOM MONHUN HEADS, but I’m just saying I’ll be around with my two regular co-opers when the port drops.
When I got the invitation to the party from 8128 I got into the squad room no problem. Matchmaking also puts me in rooms with other people. The only thing I couldn’t do was post quests of more than 1 person but I’m thinking I can join on quests; just haven’t had the opportunity to do so.
if it’s any consolation i only found out about the sword & shield’s helm splitter yesterday from a youtube video and i’ve finished like 60 quests with it
sign up for 6 to 11 pm Eastern somewhere on this upcoming weekend to record talking about this decade-old dozen-plus-installment iterative series and also this extremely successful game that made regular people get into it
yeah i am pretty psyched this has been such an enormous success because it means my years of watching monster hunter games come out and wondering for a year whether they’ll be localized and then waiting another year for them to actually get released are over
also it’s basically the best game i ever played and i want that sweet g rank bad
also if anyone’s interested me and a couple buds might start up a 3u run lol
honestly it couldn’t happen to a better game, my only real complaints are “it’s pretty grindy and repetitive by design” which is almost like a prerequisite of any game that does that kind of business and by comparison to any of those it’s fantastic so
