yeah, there were power rangers ninja storm mega bloks
and there were licensed kamen rider bricks too in the early 00s which i think were mega bloks, but i can’t remember.
ah, even the peg leg
new set pirates of barracuda bay is a pirate hideout set in an old shipwreck
the gimmick is that you can use the bricks to alternatively build the iconic black sea barracuda, originally released in 1989
It is worth noting that it is not identical to the original model
There’s a pretty detailed look at it here: https://www.brothers-brick.com/2020/03/24/lego-ideas-21322-pirates-of-barracuda-bay-is-a-2500-piece-love-letter-to-classic-pirates-review/#more-200232
If the Lego Ideas line is going to pander to nostalgia, I’d much rather see loving tributes to iconic sets/themes of yesteryear than “HeY REmemBER bACk To tHE FutURe?”
Hey, I have that DeLorean and it rules, but no, you ain’t wrong.
I mean I’ve seen people do mock-ups of an Adventure Time minifigure series and I would buy the shit out of that so my resolve on the matter of licensed properties is weak.
But this particular set really celebrates the Pirates theme and has some awesome callbacks in it. I’d love to see a really rad Classic Space tribute set or Castle.
Pander to me, Lego!
Oh definitely.
The Delorean set was a childhood thing for me, because Delorean’s real brother used to own a car dealership neaar my house and had like 4 of them just parked in back for the longest time (he sold Cadillacs though). One of those ended up in the local car museum.
I will probably never buy another Lego set in my life, but I’d have a hard time resisting if they gave the Forestmen this treatment.
I love this!
It’s really great isn’t it? Now someone just needs to make a quakeguy minifig and some of the monsters.

just catching up on this thread. I got Spy Shark for my 6th birthday! (on the right)
Aqua Raiders vs Aqua Sharks was my shit
lets give it up for this little dude, you could store his flippers in the spy shark! attention to detail in the set
Gazing at Aquanauts/Aquasharks and Ice Planet 2002, my three favorite “teams” outside of the castle sets, and I’m realizing that translucent orange against blue is apparently a thing that speaks to my soul deeply.
I don’t think I’ve ever come across a mega bloks set that was actually any good. They all suck to build. Probably the plastic? The figures are okay though. They should just do figures.
