- I think the whole idea of floating in the air is dumb and ruined an entire generation of kinetic actionery across multiple genres and mediums
- Actually kind of heartened by the fact that once they switch to showing gameplay with Ryu the motion and heft of the actions improved in a familiar way

i know nothing about the devs, but as someone who has played it: i do think the pixel art is pretty nice but it’s kind of a miserable strategy game. maybe closer to gambling, especially when you’re still learning it.
instead of allowing the player to make informed decisions from the start it just stacks a bunch of opaque systems on top of each other to trick you into thinking there is some deeper strategy. but once you’ve internalized those systems you’ll lose all will to continue playing it because the mystery was the only compelling part, the systems don’t encourage interesting decisions, and most of the game is waiting around.
if someone tells me it’s like balatro and you’re supposed to play it while watching TV or being otherwise distracted then i might believe that but it’s not how i typically play games.

I looked at the Steam page/forum for the new Ninja Gaiden Black 2 and as someone who has never played the games is it seemingly being Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 remake instead of an OG Ninja Gaiden Black 2 one as much of a high crime as people are yelling about, or is this yet another example of gamers having zero chill about minor affronts?

no idea, but I can tell you the game pass version is a masterclass in UE5 nightmare jank. runs like garbage, DLSS is inexplicably missing despite the menus telling you you need it to use frame gen (apparently it’s in the steam version), but you would never use frame gen anyway because the game has horrible base input lag without it. suttering mess. doesn’t look good anyway. i’m tired, boss.

i figured that’s be thrilling so that’s why i wanted to give it a try. it’s been forever since i played something outside of my usual wheelhouse ( or anything at all really due to illness ) but, based on the reviews i saw, yeah, a lot of pple complained!
what you’re describing sounds like a game that starts off difficult but gets easier as time goes on? that. . .doesn’t sound like a huge issue to me. however, i haven’t played it. i figured the lore would be p sick at the very least. my backlog is like inescapable at this point, and i also want to try to challenge myself with games that are a bit tedious / harder.
sometimes playing a game can suck gameplay wise, but what you glean from it, ie: the soundtrack, can turn a painful session into something memorable. you remembered it despite not having fun, right. i think if anything these devs have a good eye but are still working out the kinks with the execution.
they’re worth watching imo!
