I will always be in debt (figuratively, occasionally temporarily literally) to Chris Person since he’s always checking out and recommending high quality cheaper Chinese stuff and writing about it. Got some damn good ear buds and a very nice fountain pen for less than $20 each from his articles.

I’m quite settled in this No Homers Club but ready and willing to burn down this treehouse at a moment’s notice

an online buddy of mine had a blog for a while that was called “the select button” iirc and one day while we were playing street fighter 3: 2nd impact through fightcade i joked that “oh, and btw, did you have to pick the domain w ‘the’ in it because of the forum” and he was like “what forum”.

it was awkward for a second because i think my comment came off wrong to them (we had barely spoken on voice-chat by that point) but our oro vs dudley (?) fight was so hype it didn’t matter

wondering how my fortunes might have been altered if my alarm clock app that incentivizes getting up on time by making the snooze button a microtransaction was not killed by apple in the early days of the iOS apps ecosystem.

a game that’s specifically a subspace emissary-like rather than a smash-like

Learnt today about Sharmila, a training game commissioned by the United Nations World Food Programme. Set in “a fantasy world with familiar problems,” it aims to help their employees and partners “better apply a humanitarian protection lens to their work and to improve accountability to affected populations”. Looks like Civ, but seems to be a simple RPG where you talk to characters and create buildings for them.

No way to try it out - I’d imagine it’s rubbish to play? But very curious to me that they’re looking at game design for an end that’s so morally serious. “Empathy machines” real?

he is trying to bait me into posting Mikrotik product announcement videos. no chance, but maybe I will watch one or two to see how Victors is going

I have never seen a marketer so obviously of the opinion “I don’t think me standing in front of a camera does shit for sales” “anyway moving on, the new RouterBoard 9900 has ports, so many ports. And fast! You should buy one for your 10GB local home lab”

I guess I still don’t really want/need one of these but it’s cool knowing that with how much money I’ve got sitting in my steam wallet from gift cards over the years I could get one basically for half price.

Disco Elysium game director Robert Kurvitz and art director Aleksander Rostov do not appear to be involved with either new studio.

A third

Look forward to my own studio announcement coming very soon

Can they make the rest of the studio a kickstarter goal or unlockable DLC?

good idea, but that will be a fourth studio which enters the fray in a year or two, for good measure

Kinda reminds me of this (altho long juice squeeze seems less overtly fighting gamey, more polished, and more focused on metaprogression)
