This kinda looks like if someone turned the opening of Prey 2006 into a full game.

There could be but it from the preview pages available it looks like the actual book thing they’re selling is all about regular ol’ bald Mr. Do!, not young anime clickbait Mr. Do!.

Google Translate:

Mr.Do! Encyclopedia

This is the first research book to introduce and explain the history, cabinet, characters, techniques, developer interviews, hardware, trivia, series, ports, and advertisements of the classic action game “Mr. Do!” that was released in 1982! It is a mysterious game in which the clown Mr. Do exterminates enemy monsters by digging holes, but it has been loved by many people since its release. Please take a look at this luxurious research book that covers everything about “Mr. Do!”, from the story of its creation to its spread around the world!

Oh wait no one page is hunky pachislot Mr. Do!

Hm also there’s a page of clearly inaccurate floppy blond Mr. Do! diagrams for the original Mr. Do!

I might not mind if Realms of the Haunting got a similar treatment

I’m personally offended by the idea of a Realms of the Haunting you can actually control

my experience with realms of the haunting is using a random object to weigh something down and forgetting about it, then like three hours later realising i needed that item to solve a puzzle and i decided to just quit instead

realms of the haunting rules and I made an autohotkey script to give the game sane controls when I last played it, sorry shrug

i really liked it until that point, i’d play it again if a re-release came out

For whatever reason my mind thought that this was that cancelled Thrill Kill game and I was morbidly curious for a sec.

If I can ever get a hold of that book or scans of it or anything, I would be willing to attempt a translation. Here’s what I can make of the blurb about it on the website at least:

This is the first ever publication dedicated to exploring the history, cabinets, characters, hardware, sequels, ports, advertising, etc. of the 1982 action masterpiece Mr.Do!, including developer interviews and bits of trivia!

It’s a mysterious game where a clown, Mr. Do, digs holes and wipes out enemy monsters, but from the time of its release many people have grown to love it. An extravagant study, encompassing everything from the details of Mr.Do!'s creation to its spread across the globe—please give it a look!

EDIT: Looking back in the thread I realize someone already posted a machine translation of this. At least you can see what it’s like if a random person does it by hand (I promise I didn’t look at the machine translation first). One little maybe-interesting tidbit I could offer that the bot might be ill-equipped to supply is that the word I used “mysterious” for here, “不思議,” might be more aptly translated in this context as “inexplicable” (which it can also mean), but I decided to keep it as “mysterious” to match the tagline on the cover. “Mysterious”/“mystery” is probably the most popular/commonplace translation (as in 不思議のダンジョン, Mystery Dungeon).
