6 hours of SH2 remake… OK I admit this does not look good! I don’t remember it taking like 5 hours to get to pyramid head in the original or spending that much time just wandering thru the city streets or the hotel fighting mannequins… I really rather liked observer and I was reserving judgment of bloober team but this doesn’t seem like it’s playing to the strengths of either the studio or the source material
7 years ago it was also fairly novel for an eastern european studio to have achieved that level of fidelity with UE4 and be able to transpose so many detailed assets in a horror-type setting
Making a request if there is anything to spoil about Silent Hill 2 do not I am gonna punish myself by buying it (I may have in fact “already” bought it.)
I know ongoing projects dont normally belong in here but I wanted to hilight the fact that this dev has found a way to use the 320 pixel width mode in the md/genesis to produce a game that can optionally be run in 16:9 while keeping sprite aspect ratios correct. Im hoping to see some original wide aspect fan projects in the future.
having watched this video I honestly feel like they should have remade any other Silent Hill game… like if they wanted to focus on the first few hours of Silent Hill 2 that are more like the first game, they should have just remade the first game. And 3 or 4 would’ve forced them to at least frontload what they have historically done well in production design terms. 2 was maybe a mistake
I don’t quite understand why you seem to be bending over backwards to give bloober so many benefits of so many doubts, they are historically awful. If you’d ever played that Blair Witch game there would be no mystery here
The non-talking parts of Layers of Fear were good (not the DLC and not the sequel), and I liked the hallucinations in Observer but didn’t care for the rest of the game.
Like Rudie, I’m afraid I will be unable to resist playing the SH2 remake at some point.
I only played Observer like right when it came out on a high-end configuration and thought it had a lot of great visual tricks (and good performances) that covered up any other weakness. it turns out this may have been one of the only ways to get a positive impression of them
Bloober removing thwt from their remaster eroded any goodwill towards their instincts. Like if capcom panicked and patched combos out of street fighter 2. Their name is “bloober team” , make b horror games, they can’t handle excessive bad taste turning into absurdity?
