Does anyone know of a Wii remote with clicky buttons?

My wife wants to play Rhythm Heaven on Wii but she can’t tolerate the mushiness of the Wii remote.

I bought the little maker board the guy who whipped Claude into doing openpuck

it just work

you load the firmware and it work and Steam sees it as a puck in Steamcon mode and I’ve been using my Steam Controller 2 with my Switch 2 without issue

if you somehow have a Steam Controller Again and you have 8 dollars, I would go buy that board off Amazon and do stupid(er) things with your 100 dollar gamepad

I can’t think of any well-liked 3rd party wii brands but this teardown suggests that in terms of button responsiveness basically any generic one could work better Clash of the Controllers: Wiimote vs. Fake Wiimote - Fictiv you could get a dongle to use a different controller entirely which it seems like people have done like DIY style with arduino bits or just bought, or softmod it and use a Dualshock/i think gamecube or usb controller. Or whatever with dolphin. Not sure if a dongle would add significant latency but i assume wii rhythm heaven has a bigger timing window already.

bsp y04 seems weird & fun. works on pses 3&4 out of box. only pad i can think of aside from og saturn with mouse switch shoulders ?

someone somewhere in the last thread said the knockoff saturn pads were getting tiresome and why did they all have to have the dinky top 3 buttons anyway, so. monkey’s paw later and we’ve got this and the retro fighters d6. which is actually a pretty good pad ? of all things to start from, they certainly could have done worse than the ascii pad ft.

microswitch dpads are… novel !

I’m going to be That Guy and say polling rates above 2000 are getting into placebo level, you need to plug it into a specific USB port on your motherboard and also 4k and 8k polling rates can be pretty taxing on your CPU

I have a mouse that can do stupid polling rates and a 7800X3D and maxing the polling rate out can cause framedrops in some games

more to the point, a mouse is a physical object not bound to digital input or a spectrum or area and with which you can manhandle like a maniac and actually achieve 8000 Hz worth of movement. you cannot generate 8000 Hz of controller input with sticks and buttons unless the pad is sending a shitload of redundant signals to make sure your inputs are getting there as soon as possible and I have doubts the game is polling pad input that much if it’s pad-forward or pad-only

this is so stupid

Unless you can watch youtube on that screen, then it’s genius

Indeed

I’m surprised there hasn’t been one of these yet where you can load it up with emulators to play on the screen.

Don’t let us down, Genki Manta OS (that viewing angle though)

Seems kinda neat :person_shrugging:

I guess emulators on iPhone work pretty well these days?

Love to think about getting new controllers or fightsticks or modding them but also never playing games

Probably a really crap stick but kind of a cute idea. It’s ¥7500 though so not a justifiable impulse purchase.
