pulled my HRAP3s out of storage. what’s the best way to use them in the year of our lord 2025? i was getting some unexpected mappings out of Capcom Fighting Collection 2. i would prefer to have some sort layer to get good inputs automatically? steam? joy2key?
Too early to declare anything about the Gulikit ES Pro just yet, but I’ll say…damn it feels cheap. It’s that glossy kinda textured plastic that…you know it. You know how that feels in hand.
But! It seems pretty responsive. The D-Pad is like the one on the Xbox Series controller, but…smaller?
It seems OK for fighting games, though I’m having a hell of a time pulling off 360s and such with it. Maybe I gotta break it in. More an issue in CFC2 than SF6, maybe I’m just rusty at those stricter input timings.
sounds like you gotta fight me in cvs2
Are you playing on PC? Steam should work. If you’re on a console, then probably a Brook adapter of the console
Mobapad Huben update: I was playing the new Rune Factory Azuma on Switch 2 with it and discovered that it’s incredibly uncomfortable to use the analog sticks with it. It’s just the slightest bit larger than the Chitu, enough so that it hurts to use the right analog. I ended up switching back to the Chitu again. Wonder if I should return the Huben if the only thing it has going for it is the dpad, when I have better dpad-centric controllers ![]()
It might work better if I put in a lower stick though so the clearance my thumb has to reach isn’t so far though. I’ll check if it came with a lower stick
EDIT: only comes with a dpad replacement piece and wireless dongle, no lower stick. Guess I’m returning it ![]()
Testing out other controllers I stopped using, they all basically have this same problem for me where it’s slightly stressful to use the analog sticks because they’re all raised a bit too far from the grip/spread too far from the grip to be comfortable for my small hands. The only ones that don’t have this problem for me (that I have near me to access) are:
- PS3 & PS4 Dualshock
- Mobapad ChiTu
- Gamecube controller
Even the Guilikit Elves controller’s analog sticks stick out too far from the grip for it to be comfortable. This is such a shocking realization to me. I always assumed the controllers were too big to be comfortable but it was something else entirely, damn.
I need a youtube controller reviewer with small hands to trust in
These look neat:
It looks incredibly chunky and will probably be uncomfortable for me but I’m willing to try (fool that I am)
do sony go after people who try to make dual shock shaped controllers or what. like every controller is an xbox shape, but even the ones that want to be dual shock clones are Legally Distinct
My guess is because the PlayStation design is uncomfortable lol
The Playstation design feels pretty good on that Tegenaria Lite…if Gamesir wants to pay me to say this I will…
One issue I’m running into using the Gulikit on the Steam Deck (and, to be fair, it’s an issue just in general with the Deck) is that doing the Home + A press to pull up the right side menu is damn near impossible. Almost wonder if it’s a universal issue since most controllers use a, uh, “squishier” button for Home than the face buttons?
Not a huge deal, anyway.
Anyway I think it’s fine. I do think the d-pad on the Xbox controller is maybe a little more accurate feeling, but for $30? Solid.
maybe a bit vague here but what is the good controller for pc right now if i like the xbox kind of shape and want a decent dpad, low latency + reliability
oh yeah and definitely xinput, the dualsense experience is ever so slightly too fiddly for me
exactly the one grandpa is talking about, probably. the gulikit es pro. the 8bitdo 2C is the other cheap option. compared to the gulikit you get extra shoulder buttons, worse sticks (though still fine), more of a nintendo pro shape, worse latency (though, again, still fine), and a toss up on the dpad.
if you want back buttons and trigger locks you pay more. I have the gamesir cyclone 2, which has those, a charging stand, and top tier sticks, but as a trade off has worse latency than either of the cheaper options I mentioned, and what I’d consider a worse dpad. the 8bitdo ultimate 2 would be the competition at that price point; basically the 2C with back buttons, trigger locks, sticks closer to the gulikit, and a more tactile dpad that some people like more and some people like less. the cyclone has mechanical face buttons, all those other options don’t. I probably like them more than the other options here, but not by much.
the gamesir g7 pro has best in class everything at $80, but idk about that dpad, and opinion seems very mixed. also worth mentioning that the es pro has much better bluetooth than anything else mentioned, if that’s important to you.
Looking at small controllers, found this montrosity:
The Tb tails CHOC
Incredible design choice to just say “fuck curves”
The only way to truly pay homage to NES/FC controllers
e: I love these people, they’re weirdos

“Get it? It’s a Porsche 917!”
I wanna know more about this Saturn pad looking modern hybrid:
The STK-7051 controller, only seems to be available on Aliexpress
That is important to me and although I haven’t tried the es pro, I would also put in a rec for the 8bitdo ultimate 2 on wireless quality.
It has a toggle on the back between Bluetooth and low-latency 2.4Ghz dongle mode. The dongle is USB-C so I’ve had success plugging it into my Switch, my iPad or (to keep it stored neatly alongside the controller) into the controller itself.
I see the Gulikit es pro scores well on this latency test, and it’s nice you don’t need to fuss with a dongle, but the worry I always have with Bluetooth is it also depends on the receiver. So would these results also hold up with other Bluetooth hardware on the other side, particularly the unswappable and hard-to-measure ones on Switch and Steam Deck?

Bless, I’ll check their channel out!
I ended up buying the Gamesir Nova 2 Lite after reading it’s good for small hands on reddit and liking its dpad (i’m a sucker for a disc dpad) + the back paddles:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F3CZJGSF
Will report if it really is good for small hands later when it comes in
there will be an effect, whether it is a meaningful one I’m not sure. I ran the gamepadla polling test on my computer with another gulikit controller with the same bluetooth chip, and the result was very slightly worse when I had another controller paired. I use it on my ipad with other junk paired and it at least still feels really good.
this shape reminds me of those 6th gen street fighter anniversary collection fightpads
