Disappointed but still seems better than regular sticks for this use case.
The last thing in the world I need is one more controller, but Iāve got a sickness babyā¦

Anyway, I read about the Gamesir T3 Lite (Steam detects it as Tegenaria Lite, so maybe itās out there under that, too) on Xiaohongshu, where users were flipping out that it was being released domestically over there for likeā¦$5? In a better alternate reality that could maybe be the case (plus a few bucks for shipping) via AliExpress. Maybe it still is, if youāve got a contact or something. But itās $20 on Amazon, I had some store credit, so I went for it anyway.
Itāsā¦not bad? I will say itās absolutely fucked up that theyāve got Capture and Home where Select and Start ought to be (those are off to the upper left and right, where the Capture and Options buttons on a DS4 would be). Iāve seen some people complain that it āfails the Contra testā as far as the d-pad goes (itās not truly segmented like an actual PS pad, it just feels like it), but I tried out some stuff in SF6 and it feels fine? Didnāt have any trouble shooting guys in Rise of the Tomb Raider, either. Face buttons feel nice and clicky, shoulders are maybe a little mushy and analog sticks areā¦fine, I guess.
I forgot to enable rumble so I havenāt tested that yet, but it seems fine. I also gotta try to hold my phone up with a translator map to the online manual, because there are two pretty meaty back buttons you can program on it.
If anything, itās weird to hold a controller that feels soā¦wide? Like 8Bitdo controllers are usually super narrow, real deal Xbox controllers are only a little wider than that, but this sucker is out here denying an old lady some space on the bus.
Also kinda nice to have a controller with symmetrical sticks againā¦
In a world where wireless 8bitdo controllers go on sale for like $5 more than this, I dunno if I can recommend it, but if you can get it for that hot $5 Chinese price, hell yeah, why not.
there must be a (subtle) new revision of the dualsense based on me handling the new pad i got since sonyās days of play sale had them on sale for like 20 bucks off
got one of the newer colorways and the triggers are slightly less resistant. finish has a slightly different texture.
i really love the way this thing looks.
fyi the official sony dualsense charging station is a total piece of shit and the charging pins are unbelievably easy to get accidentally caught under the mechanism and fold under / eventually break off just from normal usage. apparently the pin on the far right (looking from the front) is a dummy pin for symmetry so i might try to de-solder that one and put in on the left side where one of mine broke off⦠but i generally only need to charge one controller at a time so i guess itās fine lol
i still really want a galactic purple dualsense, though i am a little tempted by that glittery teal, but also i have not played a local multiplayer game on a playstation system since 2010 and probably never will again, so i really shouldnāt⦠(note that i also own 3 dualshock 4s and 1 third-party ds4)
I just upgraded to a USB2.0 hub on my PC after realizing that all the bugs I was having with the connection on my headphones and new gamepad were because I was plugging their 2.4Ghz dongles into a USB3.0 hub (many USB3 devices emit noise at that wireless frequency).
Iād run into a similar issue once 10 years ago but forgot about it since then. The headphones were reliable 95% of the time on the USB 3 hub so that lulled me into complacency. But my new gamepad had constant, severe glitches on this particular PC so I finally started to troubleshoot the issue.
This looks like some kind of beautiful beetle and I love it
My biggest beef with that wired Gamesir controller is actually an issue I have with a lot of controllers on Steam - it has rumble (you can press the mapping button and then start or select to adjust the rumble, and that sucker has some strong motors in there), but I canāt get it to work in any game whatsoever.
Itād be real handy with Rise of the Tomb Raider and the artifact inspection thing, where your only indication that youāre looking at the additional detail is an increasingly intense rumble.
With my Wii Related Wrist Injury Iād thought Iād finally use this ASCii One Handed SFC controller.
The d-pad succckkkksssss. For an RPG you can just roll into down-left-right-left-right-left-right. The button placement is also really weird. I am cool with A B on the triggers why is start down there. I think they doubled up X Y because who knows if a Lefty or a Righty uses the controller. Not that it actually makes any difference in practice.
Good news on the Gamesir front, bad news for me: apparently I canāt read, and was pressing the wrong buttons to pair/change modes on my controller, so now that I have it in Xbox mode, rumble works. Itās good! $20, solid buy.
Bad news is that I canāt readā¦
something like this that actually works would actually be so cool and good, do you know if these are still a thing? because it genuinely seems really good for accessibility.
For modern consoles they REQUIRE so many buttons and features (the PS5 taiko drums have a touch panel) I would find it unlikely.
There are ASCII one handed controllers for all the 90s consoles maybe they got better. Weirdly I donāt think Iāve ever seen a dreamcast one.
Iāve always been curious about the Sony access controller and the Xbox adaptive controller
if the goal is a one-handed thing these do nicely

the zero got very popular with digital artists as an off-hand drawing tool bc it has a keyboard mode thatās great for tablets
replaced my 2020-era Razer Viper Mini with the glitchy scroll wheel (click is broken, jumps around) with a new Razer Cobra
credit to razor for making a $35 mouse that is cheaper than its predecessor ($15 cheaper adjusted for inflation), the exact same form factor except slightly more comfortable, slightly better build quality, and equal or better sensor. itās a modern miracle
All that thing is missing is a little prehistoric bird saying āItās a livingā at the camera when it gets jabbed by the buttons
