methods of input (Part 2)

Whoa. Is there anything even remotely competitive to the xbox version? Outside of the ugly bean buttons…

yeah there’s a whole aftermarket of hitbox derivatives now that offer more and better for half that price. this is the opposite of their arcade stick’s value proposition (xbox compatibility aside) imo, the keyboard diy space is big enough their brand/reliability alone aren’t enough to coast on

their marketing invoking the macbook air is pretty funny tho

Please link $50 hitboxes

Edit: the ps5 compatibility being so expensive is funny (and horrible fuck)

hit f5 a couple times after the page loads

“half” was maybe over-optimistic post tariffs but several acceptably-good brands were reliably under 40 USD on US marketplaces as of a few months ago

If there’s still US stock on Amazon, the Haute42 sticks are cheap cheap

They have every which size and case material at every price point

and fwiw it looks like they’re considered PC peripherals and exempt from tariffs, so you can still order from Ali at the normal prices.

I keep seeing those colorful 8bitdo 2C controllers on sale, and I find them very alluring.

However, I already have like 6 variations on the 8bitdo SN30Pro+/Pro 2 controllers and definitely don’t need any more controllers

However however, how good are they? Do they feel better than the Pro 2s?

i got one of these. i love it! i wish it (somehow) had a lil touchpad at the top right and mouse buttons at the top left so i could do gestures but i love the little trackpoint nub for general mousing and the keyboard is pretty great aside from a few quibbles (what’s with the fn key being to the left of control when they do it the other way around on their laptop keyboards?)

basically a combination of this and the logitech k400 would be exactly what i need. but yeah that definitely does not currently exist haha

I got a ZD-O Excellence per chris person and it is as promised a way better built and more repairable Elite that also works on Switch and stores multiple device pairings for half the price

both my X220 (c. 2011) and P14s Gen 2 have the Fn key where God intended

it actually fucks me up because we use Dell as our OEM at the office so any time I use my assigned laptop (not often) I’m smashing Ctrl instead of Fn

I got Junk Food Arcade’s SWORL controller!

Here it is next to my custom mixbox with analogs, that I made after being inspired by first trying out the SWORL at EVO 2023, also the Hori Alpha which looks giant in comparison:

It’s like 2/3rds the size of my mixbox, but almost 2x heavier. Its weight comes from its metal base that’s well padded. I might get a friend to 3d print me a replacement just so I can make it lighter; I hate heavy sticks:

It comes in a really nice case, like the Steam Deck. The case has a nice fleece cover that goes between the pouch and over the controls:

Very impressed at how good it feels. The analog domes are very comfortable too. Definitely feels premium.

Here’s some video of it in action if you want to see:

So are the analog domes trackballs!?

Nah, they’re just domes attached to analog sticks. They have good grip though so they work well even with just thumbs on it.
