Somehow that’ll end up inexplicably having the best d pad in the world.
you would think, more than 30 years after it was determined that six was the correct number of face buttons, that people wouldn’t still be fucking it up
I want to try using this
I’ve had good experience with Gulikit controllers so I’m down to try the Saturn Dpad and PS layout analog sticks.
I found a boxed Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 for $14 at a thrift store today, and as it turns out it’s pretty easy to get Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries running on Windows 11, and it fully works with the stick from the get go.
I had an old non force force feedback one somewhere but this is pretty rad.
Just going to be a mech pilot from here on out.
If you got the version with all the mektek shit you could probably spend the next 10 years just playing mw4 mercs
Mektek is the exact one I grabbed! Aside from it not seeming to like 1920x1080, it works great. There’s supposed to be a mess of extra mechs in here. So far I’ve just been doing the quick action to get a feel for things.
sick
fotografs, pls !
I’ll tidy up and do some. I’m in dinner table laptop mode with my desktop still out of commission and the Mac mini in its place at my desk
Got some implants for the DS5. Am hoping this will make camera control with the right analogue stick a little easier on the fingers.
hubba hubba!
I’m sure it’s okay. Right? It’ll be okay, right?!
Ah so this is why I bought three versions of their knockoff Genesis pad when I did.
My headset’s analog mic seems to have lost about 10.1 dB of volume since a Windows Update yesterday: mic Volume and Boost settings are still maxed, but recording is just coming out a lot quieter. Shoot. I can near-max the Gain in OBS to compensate but of course the result is more static-y and background-noisy.
I had an identical sealed backup headset: same problem. Well, maybe it’s time to try moving up to the USB mic age. Gosh dang it MS. ; P
Jeez, good thing I’ve moved to emulation rather than recording off old analog audio consoles, that would’ve complicated this quite a bit.
It arrived, and the USB headset mic sounded cold and hollow by comparison, so I’ll stick to the analog one, fuzzy as it is.

Oh hey I should just try a 3.5mm to USB converter cable, maybe that would get me back some of my mic capture volume. It wouldn’t even be an additional cable, since I’m already adding a long 3.5mm splitter cable onto the analog headphone cable.
Does anyone know of a third party Wii remote with clicky buttons rather than mushy? My fiancee has trouble playing Rhythm Heaven because the A button is too mushy for her liking.
I was able to drop the artificial Gain on the headset mic by about 7 dB (I’d had to hike it ~10 dB after that Windows Update a few weeks back) with the 3.5mm-to-USB adapter cable, but the mic recording came out a lot thinner-sounding, losing significant warmth and breadth; with the artificial gain lowered there might have been slightly less static fuzz, but it was hard to tell because the fuzz that was there was hissier and much less pleasant. So, the adapter didn’t help.
New 8bitdo hitbox:

Cannot believe how ugly the Switch version is. The NES controller aesthetic doesn’t work if you stretch it across a giant piece like that, it just looks horrid. Xbox version looks fine though:

Impressive how thin this thing is though:
