methods of input (Part 2)

I too got keycaps recently! mintlodica witch girl on a niz plum

They’re the first ABS ones I’ve liked thanks to the textured surface

I also got… other keycaps I need to build a board for

the dye sublimation print wraps around the caps which seems really difficult to do nicely

These are incredible. Cannot wait to see what you do with them!! I can imagine that it might be fun to put them on a sonic stickerbombed case to get maximum Sonic IP Expression

no idea what gamer IP I’d put on a board. I should think about that

I love the idea of a stickerbombed case! I‘ve always wanted stickerbombed something but on a particular surface as an accent like a guitar pickguard

I’m thinking like ink yellows or something similar with short travel for the board itself

speaking of mechanical keyboards, looks like the X68000 mini will have some red MX-compatible switches

needs authentic alps

are those still being manufactured? I have an old 1980s Mac keyboard with alps and it’s my second favorite typing experience behind my topre set

matias makes alps clones but alps proper are new old stock or salvaged from existing boards only, long since discontinued

They just got me with this, I’m not sure I hate it but it’s definitely different

Famicom Data Recorder

Manufactured by Matsushita/Panasonic for Nintendo, the cassette tape drive was released in 1984 only in Japan for ¥9,800. Available to any game developer, it was launched as a peripheral for Nintendo’s Family BASIC Keyboard to save BASIC programs written by users. In addition to Family BASIC, this compatible game library is Nintendo’s Programmable Series with Excitebike (1984), Mach Rider (1985), and Wrecking Crew (1985)—and the third party games Castle Excellent (1989), Arkanoid - Revenge of Doh, Lode Runner (1984), and Nuts & Milk.[1]

I gave up trying to desolder the first switch. I set this project aside and ordered an Elecom Huge in the meantime :person_shrugging:

This might have involved me throwing the whole disassembled G305 in the trash. Logitech’s quality has really gone down in the last decade or so.

My Logitech trackball either double clicks or gets…physically stuck? Like, I gotta pry up on the button. And it sucks! It’s a great mouse otherwise.

ok uhhh does anyone have tips on cutting plastic internals of an arcade stick case

alternately does anyone know a way i can rotate the joystick 180 degrees but still have it register the proper directions

could you just wire the leads up “upside down”/correctly?

if you’re using it with a PC you can just map the directions differently or on console some fighting games have a config menu where you can map controls quickly (mostly thinking of third strike online but others too)

I don’t know if the firmware is flashable on the Qanba but that’s a potential option

you very likely would not want to have to do this on a recurring basis just given the ease of xinput when it does just work

obviously not ideal but a software fix could be someone’s preference to firmware/hardware

sometimes yeah! in this case, idk about time/effort saved

That’s what I ended up doing for now! since I don’t have plastic cutting tools. The stick fits decently rotated 180 degrees so i’ll just wait to put it right side up until i get access to some saws and stuff in a couple weeks (gf’s dad has some but he’s on a trip)

controls remapped, yeah

STG skill level has improved +50% or so just with this joystick lol.

I just bought this on a whim:

I’ll let you know how it is as just a controller
