methods of input (Part 2)

it’s a shame they’ve moved to Bluetooth Low Energy or this would be tempting, being able to use my 2017-era Xbox controller on older hardware is real nice

no back paddles for 130 bucks, for a controller that everyone knows breaks with a fucking higher frequency than the standard controller.

What I didn’t know and wouldn’t have believed before becoming a full-on Keyboard Sicko is that keycaps actually make a huge difference in how a keyboard feels. I don’t know for sure, but my guess would be that the logitech has kinda flimsy ones and you’d need to budget ~$40 for a good set.

I just spent all day using a chiclet-style keyboard at my new office job (which somehow has much shorter travel than the chiclet board on the laptop I’m currently typing on). I feel like nearly anything has to be a substantial improvement. Even the mouse sucks!

So my Logitech G305 likes to release the left button before I’m ready to let go. This is really a pain in the ass when I’m selecting something or even dragging windows around etc. I’ve never had a mouse with a problem like this.

Apparently the Omron switches inside really suck. Most people complain about unintentional double-clicking after a while, but I’ve got a weird premature click release problem.

I think I’m gonna go ahead and replace those switches because I like this mouse otherwise! I’m looking at these Kailh GM 4.0 switches. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations when it comes to mouse switches?

I have some of these in a G Pro Wireless. They’re good but a little heavier than Logitech stock. I think the 8.0s are about the same as stock.

ok fuck it, if it’s cheap enough I’m gonna put a new lever in my Qanba Drone. I want to make it feel smooth/soft with a short throw and a bat top. And aiming for zero fuss installation.
Do folks have thoughts on options?

(thinking)

-I hear a Sanwa JLF is supposed to be basically a snap-in replacement. I hear Seimitsu levers are ‘more like Korean’ (softer) but may require dremeling. If not, i would probably prefer that.

(Buttons idc really but I hear sanwa obsf-30 or Seimitsu ps-14-g are snap-ins.
Do I have to replace the gate if I replace the lever?)

Trying to keep it cheap cuz im not trying to spend this month.

oh lemme watch this tutorial before asking ez questions.

this is all very fascinating to me because the time I 1cc’d metal slug it was on a machine whose joystick stuck from a slush puppy I personally spilled on it and which I watched someone literally pee on the side of one time

update for the curious: some twitter posts confirm that seimitsu LS-56 lever fits the qanba drone (and presumably anything else that only looks to accept JLF)

Joey Wainwright on Twitter: “@NoGoodCitizen @focusattack LS-56-01 fits @QanbaUSA #qanba_drone https://t.co/BpKD94N8Ed” / Twitter
Rock on Twitter: “@Pachanga270 LS-56 (LS-32 does not fit)” / Twitter

relatively cheap on focusattack altho they’re out of the ‘kowal short throw mod’ which i was maybe interested in. shmups forum has a lot of love for seimitsu so maybe i will roll with this for a while

After a year and a half of waiting I finally got a this keycap set, GMK Dandy, and stuck it on the board I use for work!

I am also waiting on a new tenkeyless wooden case and PCB I ordered in a group buy that I’m eventually gonna stick these keys onto. That’s why the layout is a little stupid and I’m using the yellow keys weird haha. End result will hopefully look… verdant! Fresh!! Something like that.

Nice colors! This thread just got two Half-Life-y posts in a row. ^ _^

(Wait is the SB game palette Half-Life-y on purpose or eh well I don’t know, I never even played past like level 1.)
