from my understanding inks are very thocky and UHMWPE is very thin sounding, so I doubt it.
so my god damn retrobit saturn usb pad died again. first one had the dpad break. they said they fucked up and made shitty dpads on the first patch, so they sent me a new controller for free. that controller fried itself or something, just stopped being recognized by windows, so I swapped the new dpad back into the old controller. now that controller is also fried. so fuck these guys. pretty sure I have to buy a 2.4g m30, right? anyone have anything bad to say about that? I think itâs only xinput, right?
the m30 is the best non-OEM controller iâve ever used. i have both the 2.4GHz and the bt model and both are great. i dunno about the 2.4GHz version but the bt version has dinput + xinput and several other wireless modes
the 2.4g is xinput only, iâd say if wired is feasible the BT model is definitely the way to go
it has a few small caveats i think. one is the center-pivot seems a bit fragile, after some use you may find the dpad can kind of âclickâ down when the middle is depressed which feels a little weird but doesnât harm operation. it also doesnât have a flat bottom so it wonât rest even on a table surface if thatâs the kind of thing to bother you at all.
owning both, the m30 is far and away better than the retrobit pads
if you know how to tackle pc compatibility issues (via steam input or similar remappper) the astro city mini pad is a good contender for best wired 6 button pad at present, itâs sturdier and sega oem, but lacks shoulder buttons.
Not sure if the retrobit pads are similar, but I was able to swap a shitty ebay usb Saturn pcb into a genuine pad and it works flawlessly.
agree, the m30 is one of the best vidcon related things ive ever bought
so I got the m30. real solid controller, feels good. unfortunately, the 2.4ghz doesnât work for anything on windows. trying to bind any button in emulators doesnât work. trying to bind in steam sees some buttons work, and some not. down on dpad doesnât work in the menus, which makes all kinds of sense. right works in the menus, but canât actually be bound when you go intro controller configure. ok, sure. wired is fine. the star and home buttons donât work even wired, but I donât care about them. why are sega pads eternally cursed.
oh I guess itâs just not supposed to work with PC? even though it works wirelessly with retropie and mister and every mini system, they felt like making sure it doesnât work with windows for some reason. only it kind of does, just not really, and some people can get it to work. why would they do this? itâs not the biggest deal, I can do wired just fine with my setup, but like, it has wireless right there, Iâm sick of cords. also the cord they give you is like 2 feet long
I got the same controller last month and it works in Windows 10 with Retroarch and Steam Input without config. Weird!
The 2.4g model does MD and switch out of the box, right? Odds are they have it set up as just a switch pro controller, a thing windows does not like at all, but that Steam Input handles fine and had work done for sdl
If you want/need xinput or dinput, you either have to get the BT m30 or run something like BetterJoyforCemu
idk, I have a switch pro controller and it works fine with stuff. steam wonât ever display the buttons properly no matter what I do, but they all work fine. gonna have to try to figure this one out
Your 8bitdo firmware might need updating?
Maybe, but if you look at their instructions they say âplease find a way to literally break the shell of the reciever in half so you can plug it into a cable that you then plug into a computer in order to update the firmware, thank you.â which, yeah
youâve linked a lot of useful stuff in this thread, any inclination to sketch up a guide-2-buy masterpost for split ergo (diy, prebuilt, or w/e) by chance ? seems like thereâs been enough general enthusiasm that the pipeline must not be too dire anymore right ? if not i can interrogate u over dm if welcome i guess
also if anyone in hereâs got a razer rion handy iâve got a couple favour qâs
Sure, Iâll get around to it sometime shortly.
From the dimension where the Sega Saturn 5 just came out with Nights Into Dreams 8 as a launch title.
Is that a trackball on the bottom or storage for the ball top?
Just had a look at their website and itâs the latter
I love how they canât decide on a face button layout even on their website
