Metroid 5: Depression
Iām very confused about the placement of the PlayStation button colors on the Nintendo scheme. Why are they rotated 90 degrees clockwise?
I want 8bitdo to release a bunch of special colors. I already have a GB one and a SNES (wired) one, and while Iāll probably pick up a black Pro 2 at some point, but itād be fun if theyād make some other editions.
(I found out recently that 8bitdo does limited lunar New Year releases of their N30:
Iād probably try to get these but I already have two N30s that I donāt use that much, because I like the SN30 Pro better)
might pre-order this and weigh in when it arrives!
I would be a much happier person if I didnāt know these existed and are now impossible to buy.
Sorry
(me too)
2016, 2020 and 2021 are still available on Taobao etc
Looks like they did match the PS colours initially
Seems plausible the design was amended some point along the way given theyāve had trouble with this sort of thing before: https://www.kotaku.com.au/2018/03/some-8bitdo-nintendo-controllers-are-being-pulled-from-sale/
yeah I really like my especially-infringing SN30 Pro, despite being generally annoyed by nintendo nostalgia itās such a thoughtful repro I had to have it
Oh man, this too (available on AliExpress)
same except for the base model. The more shit they tack onto these controllers and the less they look like legitimate SFC controllers, the less I care about them
yeah I only have that one and the new arcade stick (and in that case less for the equivalent NES stylings but because I havenāt owned a stick since the 2p x-arcade in 2003, I liked how small it was and the bluetooth support, and I wanted the excuse to pop some sanwas into it while I was in the US and could get cheap shipping)
so I did end up getting this, and it did end up finally making it to me a few days ago. itāsā¦very usable. just a well conceived, solid, small thing (with a comically short cable, idk what they were thinking). my desk is too tall to use this comfortably in the way I intended, which sucks, but it works however you want to use it. Iām a bit of a keyboard snob, so I have some specific complaints about the sound profile and scratchiness of the switches, but they work. I will probably spend the $15 to try swapping them out with something lighter to test what I like. slowly learning hitbox, for now. Iām about as good with it as I am with anything else in fighters already, since I happen to blow ass. weāll see if I can get better!
Why am I suddenly fascinated by hitboxes?
if only this were realā¦
GameCube controller people have gone too far
The Smash community has already suffered a schism over it.
Still have to write up a keyboard guide but hereās a 66g wireless Intellimouse clone for the mouse heads out there
finally got to try a hexgears x-1 on a lark ā Iād been looking at it for ages since it seems like it was overdesigned in exactly the way Iād overdesign a keyboard ā and sure enough I donāt like it at all. Iāve never really been a fan of low profile mechanical keyboards (you lose out on too much interoperability, and the feedback is always way too strong compared to a laptop keyboard) but I canāt even go over 120 wpm on this thing.
for all the annoyances of the keychron (for the life of me I donāt understand why they couldnāt have used thinner batteries that wouldnāt make the frame like 8mm too tall, or why they couldnāt have spaced out the numpad and arrow keys just a little horizontally while keeping the 96% layout), Iāve still gotten a very good experience out of it, especially now that I see that they arenāt selling it with optical reds anymore, and I still think the the lighting / typeface / keycap colours are the absolute best kind of cost cutting design
still learning ortho from the keyboard @doolittle built me but mostly I just recompile the firmware, itās very slow going to be as fast as I expect to be able to be
