Cripes, I’m just now catching up on the rapist soccer player in Garou 2 situation, and I felt gross enough buying that new sam sho given the journalist murdering ties but I need to sit this one out, since the follow the money chain feels way shorter now.

I saw people saying based on the game’s files, it looks like the game was probably supposed to launch with all of the original Garou cast but it’s possible/likely characters had to be shifted back to future DLC to accommodate adding Ronaldo and Giovanni. It also sounds like SNK recently said they intend to add every Fatal Fury character to City of the Wolves, so that’s a lot of people to work on before working on original characters.
Isn’t that kid an existing character, like showing up victory animations or something? He looks familiar.

so I bought city of the wolves anyway because of course I did. I’m really trying to avoid my brain these days because of bad times in what passes for my real life, how am I supposed to resist a new fighting game in these circumstances? anyone else playing?

Arcade Mode difficulty seems a bit much. First opponent on level 2 difficulty is busting out Just Defends, Counters and Throws all over the place
The one arcade ending I’ve seen does at least follow up on the narrivite setup of the first game and turns an old win quote into an emotional pay off

my impressions are that it plays really well and the different single-player stuff reminds me a lot of Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PS1. i also really like the Overdrive system and how they’ve managed it as it’s own thing separate from blocking or super meter, as Capcom have done.
have played through Arcade with Terry and Rock, and have been working on the single-player quest mode (“Episodes of…something?” - EOS mode) with Rock and Marco.
How are the endings? I heard they’re pretty good and focus on giving closure to the characters.
well, i’ve only beaten it with Terry and Rock in arcade mode and both had pretty extensive endings. i guess you could say Rock has some closure with his ending, for sure. for Terry, i feel like Terry is Terry and so his ending is about what one might expect
