Hayao has been a highlight at Cooperation Cups for years but now at age 41 (someone said) he’s somehow taken his showmanship to a whole new level. ^ D^
yeah, this is just the hayao experience lol. man is a gift. as a hugo player myself, a double gift.
Fatal Fury looks so good. A good single player should be great for casual play. The return of color edit. Curious if Ghosts are the classic FG system or if they’re re-attempting their failed SamSho cloud-based implementation. $60 for the game plus season pass is surprisingly cheap.
Mai’s new design is appreciated but also real boring. Not sure what they were going for here but it’s just dull while still being extremely sexed up. I think she’s had a biker look in the past in some character art? But it just isn’t visually interesting here.
Yeah a Mai with huge baggy T, leopard print pants, and comfy shoes would be cool to see. Something that shows her preferring comfort over a generic catsuit would work as a nice contrast.
The cool thing about Mark Of The Wolves was throwing out 99% of the established cast to make something new and every returning Fan Favourite is a real let-down.
I think this is the “biker” look I was thinking of in the past:
Hope she and Andy get this as DLC costumes.
But if they wanted something new they could have pulled from some other art, like this Falcoon sketch.
Even this one from the guy who was doing the KOF14/15 manga, which is just regular Mai with a baggy coat.
Bracing myself to not get the cool Blue Mary.
Yesssssssssss
true but also I wanna play mai but also true. i wanted older mom mai, but obviously that ain’t ever gonna happen
The original concept art for MOTW2 was a good idea, shame they can never make a game like that again.
I actually really like the new Mai costume? Like, conceptually it’s not especially interesting as outfit, but the amount of SNK characters who I’d say dress interestingly is a distinct minority–“just a guy” describes quite a few of them. I also do feel it fits the character; this wouldn’t work on Yuri, King or Athena. And the distinguishing details that do exist help distinguish it from something Ángel or Shermie might wear. It’s a bit “CW show interprets super-hero costume circa 2010” but it turns out I’m all for that, done well.
Is this the most interesting direction she could have gone in? Absolutely not. Ultimately, though, I just find it way preferable to her base outfit, or any of the alternates that were considered for KOF XIV.
i think she should get in on the subversive basics trend, little behind schedule but thats to be expected for game character
i told my friends i want her in sweatpants, a hoodie, smeared makeup and ratty slippers. i think they realized i was not being ok and kept to themselves but i dare anyone to argue against me on this point
I want to the shins hemp one piece dress and athletic flats for accurate going to the conbini 30-40year old.
This is Japan she’d still have make up on.
Hitting that point in Granblue Versus Rising where I miss the original game. I think GBVS is a fun and somewhat successful attempt at making anime street fighter with a simple decision matrix for most scenarios. Rising feels like it came out as a way to salvage what they had to get a game with rollback out after covid took all the wind out of the sails of the original games attempt at being an EVENT game. I can’t help but feel they made new systems and shuffled functions around to make the game feel new to avoid just being the $60 netcode update title from players and some of the changes lean it toward being a game I thought the original was trying to not be.
The big change here is players have 3 blue gems at the top of the screen that are tied to new key functions. The most valuable being a Roman Cancel analog to extend combos or use as a guard cancel. (Use it outside of a combo to try and guard break but its the most risky option with less reward) On its face, I’m kinda with it as the original was kinda dry with its routing options outside of a corner up until it added a dash cancel option near the end of its life and reversals or ways to get out of corner demanded a little more knowledge on your part. The crux of my issue is these now make the game feel more swingy. It’s much easier to get someone into a corner and expect to have full bar and sitting on 2 BP gems and go for a 75% life eating sequence. Meter in this game builds so much faster than the original. The first games pacing was more based around no one having a full bar until they were about ready to close out a bout. A recent patch has adjusted characters to have an even easier time to get corner carry so the game is starting to feel more like a game that gets decided by 2 critical interactions which is a shame for me since I find myself enjoying the mid screen boxing game more than the corner RPS/Resource counting part.

Comedian Noritake Kinashi as his character Norimaro, hanging out with the Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter devs & playing himself in the game vs a kid who’s also playing as him.
From a comment on the video–time stamps of Capcom staff appearances:
3:26 Yoshiki Okamoto - Executive Producer
3:58 Akira Yasuda (aka Akiman) - Original Art Work
20:32 Hiroaki Kondo - Sound Director
23:16 Tetsuya Iwanaga - Voice Actor of Ken
24:15 Yuko Sasamoto - Voice Actor of Sakura
25:04 Osamu Hosoi - Voice Actor of Dan
27:41 Yoshiharu Yamada - Voice Actor of Dhalsim
43:39 Yoshiki Okamoto - Executive Producer
According to Norimaro | Marvel vs. Capcom Wiki | Fandom , Okamoto HATED having Norimaro in the game, but Akiman thought he was a hoot.
Google Translate on my phone says the suit at 3:38 is “Ryuichi Hirata, Capcom Co., Ltd. Tokyo Branch Manager.” Google results show him listed in various trade publications and legal filings as President of Capcom USA from '94 to '96; so I wonder if he could have been a real behind-the-scenes power player at the company after moving back to Japan by '97, when MSHvSF and probably this video came out, and was perhaps one of the people who forced the Norimaro deal through, over the protestations of producer Okamoto and–also according to the fandom wiki–of Marvel.
