I do like Super Thunderblade’s bits of original music that weren’t just simplified versions of the arcade version tracks but you really get the sense from the limited instrumentation that, well, in '88 it was obviously early days in learning the ym2612

Kind of hope the arcade versions of Night Striker and Starblade get thrown in. SCD Night Striker in particular has sprites so pixelated you can barely make out what they’re supposed to be

Oh Genesis 2 has Alien Soldier which was only on like the Singapore Mega Drive Mini?
Honestly cannot remember if Alien Soldier has gotten a western release ever.

I think it did, on the Wii virtual console.
I got the asian mega drive mini so Alien Soldier on this one is sort of a mark against it lol. Maybe there’ll be another asian version that will have the best line up again.

as i remember it, the official uk sega magazine gave it a bad review, then like a month later retracted it, basically saying “this is actually all we’ve played recreationally this whole month, here’s a strategy guide too”
then sega europe apparently only printed like nine copies anyway or something so it’s just as rare as the jp version at least

Alien Soldier was available on Sega Channel too
Treasure said they were working on something for their 30th anniversary and there’s a >1% chance its a version of alien solider with all the cut content that was data mined a few months ago.
