uhh… not really that, but medium-naut starts you with your maximum life bar and asks for you to sacrifice chunks of it for any upgrades you might find, including traversal options, making you more and more frail the more boons you have collected. afaict it’s not possible to get everything, and you may in fact screw yourself over by overwriting a preferred power up with a more difficult to use one.

it definitely fucks with the regular feeling of progression these games have as you weigh what is and isn’t worth it

^ I like the wacky gameplay of this. There’s copious cartoonish gore and no option to disable it; I’d suggest it to the dev, Alan Higgs according to Steam, but I guess it feels like a big part of the design intent so, I suppose I’ll just leave it. I wish Steam would give me a way to follow him. And Google suggests he’s only on X, alas.

Oh wait no I found him, he’s on itch.io as ā€œPickled Cactus Games.ā€ = D That I can follow, yay itch.

Itch also has a playable demo; I found traces referencing a uh whatever fest the Steam demo fest is called demo for Fool’s End, but it seems to have been taken down–that would have let me see an Options screen without having to buy and then request a refund for the game. ; ) Itch demo is

OH! There’s a ā€œClassicā€ version that’s free on itch, from a few years back, and has tinier graphics, must less obtrusive gore, and slightly simpler controls. SWEEEeeeeeet Imma play this

Gonna have to see if I can use Steam/DS4Windows/Joy2Key to make it auto-hold the Shift (Run) key for me. ; D

@Father.Torque they patched Alan wake 2 so it’s fairly playable without mesh shaders if you have a 1070 or 1080

i’m sure it will no longer work with emulation station though so now you gotta pretend you’re using a computer again, I fucking hate computers

Good news amazon delisted emulation station.

on android! amazon can’t touch me on linux, only mighty gaben can bring the walls tumbling down on the valve walled garden

I reconsidered about the changes in decade

emulator developers deeply inside the community, it’s difficult to avoid be a part evidence of assisting piracy, very different from developers who could claim emulator used for homebrew software 20 years ago, older generation can’t have so much traces. Maybe that’s why Nintendo’s sued quoted content from Twitter or Patreon.
