they’re suing ryujinx too?

I’m kidding.

Ryujinx doesn’t have a $30k/mo patreon with paywalled builds for specific games, so I think they’re a couple notches down on nintendo’s hitlist.

kinda wondering what prompted them to swing the hammer now, of all times? was TotK really their breaking point for them? or are they preemptively fretting over the possibility of Switch 2 emulation?

they had to spend a year scouring twitter (SORRY, I MEAN X) for all the hotest totk spoiler threads.

yuzu having a paid patreon sounds like an extremely stupid idea, gonna be real excited to have the supreme court declare all emulation illegal because some doofus wanted 30k for anime plushies or whatever. hope it’ll still be worth it after nintendo has you scalping cigarettes in the gulag to pay off your debt to mario tom nook.

any emulation projects hence are pretty much only going to be of new nintendo shit as the last console exclusive peddlers standing so fuck it, let’s just have the fight now and be done with

No, Japanese company/group (includes doujin group) is very very serious about copyright when someone make money by their works, it will be pain in the ass for all 24*7 long, TotK is just a breakthrough in this whole event.

clean room reverse engineered emulation is already legal, thank Sony for fucking that up 25 years ago and Mac users for buying a commercial emulator

Nintendo only has a strict case against the emulator if it contains proprietary, copywritten code or was made with confidential information (see Dolphin having to kill some commits because they were done by a former Ubi dev). I’m not saying Yuzu isn’t (that’s what discovery is for) but the root of both Yuzu and Ryujinx is open source work done for Linux Nvidia drivers (Nouveau)

the teeth gnashing about piracy is just sour grapes

iirc Cemu was the one that strongly appeared to have proprietary code but no one cared about the Wii U enough I guess

still waiting for Nintendo to argue the shaders Cemu used to compile are piracy

it’s also funny that Nouveau, which has always been essentially a waste of hardware on Linux (because Nvidia has always guarded their Windows drivers far more closely than AMD or Intel and you basically cannot get real performance for anything other than CUDA on other platforms) was so instrumental in yuzu probably being above board unless Nintendo successfully manages to intimidate them

most likely because they’re not thrilled about their new console probably being emulated within a few months of release but they always do this to themselves

thinking right now about how the GBA had emulators for it a year before release

This retro metroidvania inspired action platformer started as a Genesis game and is now on modern consoles to be immediately forgotten.

TBF it’s probably way easier to finish it as a modern game rather than being constrained by the limits of the Genesis. Though yeah, I agree its aesthetic is not appealing to me in a modern game context.

anyone make a reverse metroidvania? start with a bunch of abilities and have to give each of them up to complete the game

i dunno about original games, but there’s a super metroid hack like that
