Let's just talk about Star Wars forever (Part 1)

really amazing how these star wars tv shows have the exact same level of compositional competence and attractiveness as the average asylum film but with the cg gloss of a mid-budget blockbuster. 200 million dollar fan films.

Some parts of the mandalorian actually weren’t bad in this regard. But I generally agree, and this is largely why I’m so unenthusiastic about the boba fett trailer. On the other hand, I feel like one of these only things that I still feel the sequels pulled off very well is trying to recapture the very distinctive composition of the original trilogy, which even the prequels kinds of sucked at. There are good moments in the prequels, but also a load of really shitty ones. Maybe boba fetts show is going for that energy idk

What do you mean by composition?

the shot composition. endless bland center frame shots solely intended for delivery of the vid game cutscene exposition rather than to accomplish anything visually. really the same problem plagues every mcu movie. we live in tv world now and blocking is a dead art in hollywood cinema

There are actual Star Wars Fan Films that I have 240x480 quicktime files of that have more cinematic ambitions than these tv shows

Good news we’re also getting a Rated R Hoth horror story.

In a giant galaxy of millions of possible planets, like 5 of them and 1 family actually matter. If they tell any side stories, it’s just going to be a matter of time until they tie them back to those.

it’s funny that because the whole premise of the original trilogy was about looking at a galaxy at war from the perspective of the planets on its outskirts, and showing that even they are integral parts of the story, the addiction to the ‘classic star wars’ aesthetic has meant that these backwater planets somehow end up seeming even more important than the more heavily populated places. even though the prequels already redirected attention back to that. i guess maybe it’s more interesting. but yeah every live action thing to come out post jedi really can’t get away from tatooine.

i mean at least they had the decency to introduce the this ain’t your daddy’s tatooine planet of jakku in the force awakens

I just watched both the Boba Fett series trailer and this one for the new game, and Star Wars looks boring as hell now.

is there some edict within disney that prevents coruscant from showing up anymore? are we at four shows now that are primarily going to be set on the same damn desert planet?

shooting on location on coruscant is a lot more expensive

I find the mix of YTP premise and high production values hilarious in itself

I love the Auralnauts star wars, Ep2: the Friend Zone is a real highlight imo, if you haven’t watched it.
