I think for some people it was — Luke raising the X-wing, binary sunset, Reylo kiss, etc.
The thing that bothers me the most is the ending where Lando shows up with the intergalactic chamber of commerce after no one showed up for Leia in the last movie. Why the change of heart from the Canto Bight set? This is Important because TROS is defying a sober tone as political as Star Wars can manage for poptimist liberal bullshit.
yeah that makes sense. for me it will always be the star wars movie where one puppet gets beheaded in the first five minutes, and another one is like kind of a sadist who gleefully erases c3p0’s memory and makes him do the devil voice. also there’s a big snake. just trying to embrace the positive i guess.
yeah this really gets to me too, for so many different reasons. i don’t even want to think about it lol. but i also feel like on top of everything bad about it, it is also horrible because they clearly just wanted a repeat of the big moment from endgame, a movie that (embarrassingly) i did kind of enjoy. slapping the mcu team up ending on a trilogy that had been like, relatively focused on a pretty small cast up to that moment is just like… such a depressing move.
I’m not too cool for big moments either, like, I love when the fleet arrives at Scarif in Rogue One but it makes sense
If they wanted to go full Thanos nonsense they should have tapped into the world between worlds reality control plot they set up for Palpatine in Rebels. But I suspect that pitch went about as well as explaining to JJ that the wayfinder ought to be called a holocron.
Turning this over in my mind - holding the galaxy at gunpoint for total control over taxation of hyperspace lanes or whatever is absurdly bush league when you know about the means to control the fabric of spacetime
Oh god the star wars anime shorts are coming out soon I’m so excited for star wars to be cool again
For some reason this also made me think about how animation would be the perfect medium for my dream star wars project, a retelling of the first act of ANH that just amps up the chaos by a small amount.
Like, it’s a story that begins with a teen following a robot to visit an old man in the desert, and ends with him returning home to the still-smoldering burned corpses of his parents. In between he agrees to join a revolution, witnesses a man get his arm cut off in a bar fight and another get shot, both by the two people he’s just agreed to travel with. Then he’s like fuck it I’m never coming back to this planet again.
I mean, I love it in the movie too, but I feel like the aesthetic is a little subdued for what is actually going on there.
i know they did it because these shows are for kids and kids do not love subtitles, but having all the hutts in the filoni star wars shows speak english instead of huttese offended me more than any other star wars creative decision
weird aliens speaking made up languages that everyone in the movie just understands is like the hallmark feature of star wars
Is it the best Star Wars related work of the last 40 years? Possibly. It’s either this or that Count Dooku lightsaber that looked like a personal massager.
I really feel like every single one of these is a more interesting take on the various periods between the movies they are set in than any of the canon stuff. I love that there are just enough clues to vaguely put them in the timeline but it doesn’t really matter anyway. Also it was nice to hear actual Temeura Morrison do the voice for chibi boba fett, good vibes
